the new tamron one is supposed to be a good lens. it has Vibration Compensation, which is basically their form of image stabilization. For that I'd recommend giving it a shot, because this makes it a superior lens for video, as well as being able to handhold more shots. like the Canon it is weather-sealed, and appears to have gotten good reviews so far. honestly it's something you'll have to look into more yourself to decide. neither is going to be a bad option, they are both great lenses.

For me it will kind of depend on where I can get to buy it. Canon recently made a dick move and discontinued the 24-70mm in favour of their new 24-70mm mark II, which is ridiculously expensive.
So even though I know nothing about the Tamron, if it's easier to find in good condition, go for it.
