if your not familiar with star citizen, the dev team tends to be transparent with how they develop things, which led to multiple video series being made. This one is from their "Around the verse" series, which is all about what one part of the dev team is doing per week. the subject for today goes into detail about citizencon, their yearly star citizen meetup where they show off new things, there was a fp thread showing what they shown off here: https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1537459
Their willingness to share the inside story with backers is what makes me trust Cloud Imperium Games more than any other AAA-tier developer. It was a big disappointment to many people that they didn't have anything SQ42 to show at Citizencon, but seeing just how close to the wire they came before they made the call shows how tough that decision was for them, and the fact that they were willing to brave the consequences of not showing it at the big event rather than showing something bugged and shitty is admirable. Nobody likes being made to wait, but them choosing to hold on showing us until it's ready for prime time is fairly consistent behaviour for CIG. I just hope they show us that SQ42 mission soon, because it was nearly ready a week ago so it'd be odd if we don't see it by the anniversary livestream in November. (The anniversary stream marks the end of the crowdfunding campaign, while Citizencon marks the beginning.)
