that was actually very interesting...bet freeman got shitloads if cash for doing this!
I think I've seen all of the episodes of this show. It's really interesanting and presented in simple terms that anyone can understand.
My boss was telling me about this show. She mentioned that Morgan Freeman narrated it, and that alone got me interested. He has an amazing narrating voice, I loved it in Civ IV.
I am sick of hearing about this "finely-tuned universe theory". The universe simply happened into existence the way that it did and as a result we came to evolve into what we are today. If the physical constants were slightly different in any way there would likely be life, just not life as we know it in our universe. As for the unification theory, I find it unlikely that it's been discovered, but if it has been that will have serious implication for physics as we know it. Unfortunately the first time I have heard about any progress being made on it has been on this TV show, which makes me doubt its legitimacy as a scientifically-accepted explanation for everything.
God damn his voice is like butter on my ears.
My favorite is the "god of gaps" argument, most specifically when you pose the question "does god have a creator" and get the answer "he exists outside of the universe, he cannot have a creator", yet when I ask "what if the universe doesn't require a creator?" it's suddenly so bizarre for them to comprehend :v:. I think Carl Sagan puts it better than I ever can (0:20 - 1:09):
Cosmos is so much better.

Universe isn't "fine tuned" to us, we're fine tuned to it.
