Donald Trump flips his stance on torture; killing terrorists families
Republican front-runner Donald Trump said Friday that he would not order the U.S. military to violate international laws to fight terrorism, a stark reversal from his statements at Thursday's Republican debate.
Trump said in a statement that he understands "that the United States is bound by laws and treaties" and said he would "not order our military or other officials to violate those laws and will seek their advice on such matters."
He added, "I will not order a military officer to disobey the law. It is clear that as president I will be bound by laws just like all Americans and I will meet those responsibilities."
The statement was first reported in The Wall Street Journal.
His position seems to have shifted dramatically in less than 24 hours.
During Thursday night's debate on Fox News, Trump reaffirmed his willingness to target the families of terrorists and supported the use of waterboarding, implying a willingness to use torture. "We should go for waterboarding and we should go tougher than waterboarding," he said.
His previous endorsement of these tactics had drawn condemnation from former defense and intelligence officials.

Fat White Lump defended that position into a ban, I wonder if his opinion will flip-flop too :v:
... And no one should be surprised. The guy has no foundation. He just says whatever he thinks people want to hear.

Much like a certain Democratic candidate.
Well the obvious move is to make torture not against any international law :v:
Holy shit.. you can't stump the Trump, but you can flump Trump's character.

Fantastic choices. What a time to be alive.
Haven't most of the primaries in the deep south ended? Perhaps he's starting his move to a more middle ground position to secure the other parts of the country.

he's actually been replaced by a democratic robot from the future sent to make Bernie president.
and also, to hurt the feelings of GOP so they all fall apart and go away
:speechless:
Sometimes I also wonder if Trump is going to bait-and-switch into a liberal as he originally was for the majority of his political career, during the general election. Such a surprise stunt would be consistent of Donald Trump.

8th Amendment though, that's an important one, I don't want that going anywhere.

"Not born here? Subject to torture, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN"
Fucking joke.

Atleast Clinton gives us a few years of leeway. Trump changes day to day.
It feel's like he was just fucking with people at first, then realized he might actually win and has to act serious.

so you're the fucker that made o'malley suspend his campaign
Is it illegal to campaign as a staunch conservative, and then once you're in office renege on all your promises and enact a bunch of liberal reform?

Why would that be illegal?
Certainly would be interesting if Trump gets elected and turns the US into the peaceful, socialist paradise Bernie dreams about

I think you're being overwhelmingly optimistic.

Also I can't wait for all the Trump supporters on FP to defend him in some form. This guy has no fucking beliefs lmao, he's just a populist who says shit to get as many votes as possible.
heh, I want to see what all the trump supporters who also supported torture will say now. Will they stick to their point that "torture is good", despite pages of arguments and facts against that, or will they flock to trumps new stance on this, as if nothing happened?
