Cheaper mods are preferred, but throw anything out there. Just want a more... unique look, more offroad yet still pavement pounder intentions. I was thinking some hood scoops to cover up those laminant issues, not sure what to do about that body damage on the front right, already looking around for a bumper.
Throw it at me! Interior and/or Exterior!
240,000 miles, mostly stock internals.
I love the color scheme on it. Maybe some new bumpers, some basic engine stuff like high mileage motor oil, etc, etc. I dunno, it looks pretty good as it is.
get a CJ-5 :3 or try to get the tubular doors they are pretty kool
send me your passenger side marker housing, I'll trade you for mine, its got a big hole in it from a tree.

At 240K+ miles you'd want new sensors. O2 sensor, engine temp sensor, temp sender, MAF sensor, throttle position sensor, speed sensor.
Get your FSM and do basic maintenance. I did to my 240sx and she runs great now. Replace cracked hoses/vacuum lines and make sure everything is top shape. Replace rusty hose clamps and update them.
Test out your battery and get a new one if it's losing charge/voltage. Get new air intake filters and get an oil change. Do a basic tune up with new Iridium spark plugs and brand new wire set. Distributor cap/rotor and injectors if it's fuel injected engine.
Get new brake rotors, brake pads. Stiffer coilover suspension/sway bars. Get brighter headlights, maybe even Hella fog lights. Basic stuff
I've been told that you can 'retrofit' the intake manifold off a 98-99 Grand Cherokee / Laredo onto these 4.0L XJ's quite easily, which consistently results in increased power and a deeper growl out of the engine. I was considering doing it myself a while back but ran out of time and couldn't find a Grand's intake manifold to do it with. You could also give it a new set of fuel injectors which can do wonders for high mileage XJ's. Here's a couple of related links;

Alternatively, sHiBaN's post is about as good as it gets. Do all of those things and it should feel like a new car. That being said, my 95 XJ has just shy of 300,000kms on it, and aside from needing a new flywheel sensor bastard about a year or so ago, drives like it was new and gives me no problems. Hard to believe I'm saying it, but I thoroughly enjoy just hopping in my Jeep and leaving all of those mechanical worries behind... I'm looking at you, BMW.
