http://live.theverge.com/live-microsoft-build-2013/ The conference just started a few minutes ago. We'll see what Microsoft has to offer. Stream: http://channel9.msdn.com/ (appears to be under heavy load though, but don't attempt to refresh, it'll load eventually)
Flipboard and Facebook coming to Windows 8. took their fucking time
Ballmer said it: the Start button is back!
Doesn't it just open up the metro screen?
Doesn't it just open up the metro screen?
That's why it's called the "Start Button" not the "Start menu".
That's why it's called the "Start Button" not the "Start menu".
that's a damn shame
JLG showed off dynamic Start screen backgrounds.
Doesn't it just open up the metro screen?
Well ain't THAT pointless.
Well ain't THAT pointless.
Personally it was my biggest beef with Windows 8. I don't have a problem with the start start, but loads of people are gonna get confused when they can't even find the button to open it. I really hope Microsoft incorporates better scaling in 8.1. Would be a very welcome surprise. [editline]26th June 2013[/editline] Microsoft's apparently adding 3D printing support to Windows 8.1.
JLG now showing off an alpha of PowerPoint. [editline]26th June 2013[/editline] "PowerPoint's a resource-intensive program" Oh, please. Any modern computer can run it. If it can't, you bought a shit machine.
Microsoft's apparently adding 3D printing support to Windows 8.1.
This'll be great for the 8 customers who own one
Looks like a lot new stuff with azure - I like.
The high resolution scaling will be amazing for running Boot Camp Windows 8 on my Mac with a Retina display. Everything is so fucking small it hurts my eyes, even when I scale up 200% half the text is still like font size 5.
It's a bit awkward how he's kind of asking the audience to clap every so often :v:
I guess they had to grant some exposure to the hardware partners, its only fair to be honest. Would be awesome to get a free Surface Pro.
Ballmer said it: the Start button is back!
i dont even want it back its a waste of space [editline]26th June 2013[/editline]
Microsoft's apparently adding 3D printing support to Windows 8.1.
that doesnt make sense
project spark looks promising
Well ain't THAT pointless.
most people are fine with it really. now on nerdy internet forums?
I'm almost certain most 3rd party 3D printing applications will do it better than MS's implementation will, so that's not really anything important other than maybe advertising 3D printing.
Haswell powered surface pro please
project spark looks promising maybe i would buy it
Isn't it free to play though? Good luck buying something that's free :v:
most people are fine with it really. now on nerdy internet forums?
Most people bought a new Ipad instead of a new windows Pc, so there...
The Start button can go to the Apps menu instead of the Start Screen if you prefer.
that doesnt make sense

This'll be great for the 8 customers who own one
A big company with a huge userbase promoting and popularizing technology is never a bad thing.
A big company with a huge userbase promoting and popularizing technology is never a bad thing.
I understand, but if you have a 3d printer, it will come with software which will probably be miles better than what microsoft offers. Also how will it support it? what will it be integrated in? MSword? [editline]26th June 2013[/editline] it just sounds weird, its like if they said, added speaker support or something
Ballmer said it: the Start button is back!
Sad how the biggest news are that the start button is back...

I have windows 8 and this is how my start button works.
^Looks like shit tbh. Honestly before I got W8, I never really used the start menu, except for logging off and getting to the control panel. It was useless. I also never used the start key on my keyboard. Now, I'm using the start key all the time to get to the start menu and using it to quickly access my shortcuts. It's so much better than the shitty start menu from previous builds. It aint' officially coming back, so stop bitching.
