One great game, two quite different editions.
Hidden & Dangerous Action Pack, the classic WWII tactical shooter that just arrived on GOG.com, contains the original game plus its expansion - all carefully tweaked and tested to work on modern systems. However, there's another version of that game known as Hidden & Dangerous Deluxe and we've also included that as a free bonus goodie with the original!
This Deluxe edition was released for free as a commercial promotion for the game's sequel back in 2003, the year that Hidden & Dangerous 2 first came out. Despite having essentially the same content, the original and the Deluxe edition are quite different from each other, and deciding on which one is the "best" comes down mostly to a matter of preference. Some users appreciated the higher resolution textures and map editor available in Deluxe. Others criticized the questionable changes made in certain maps and the noticeable repetition in your squad mates' faces.
Hidden & Dangerous Deluxe is still available as freeware in certain places but now also included as a free bonus with the Action Pack. More importantly, though, the original Hidden & Dangerous is now available as a digital download for the first time, so if you're looking to experience the game in its most faithful and functional reincarnation yet, this is the time to strike!
H&D's ai though was the worst at times.
"HOLD FIRE"
*SHOOTS NEAREST GERMAN AND SETS OFF ALL THE ALARMS AFTER SPENDING AN HOUR POSITIONING EVERYONE AND SNEAKING TO THE OBJECTIVE*
Still a great game though, the one mission with the train bridge was one of my favourites if not a pain in the ass.
Holy fuck, this is the best thing ever.

It even has Sabre Squadron, you can never find a copy of that.
Just a couple months ago I was super butthurt that I couldn't find a digital copy of H&D2 anywhere. GoG to the rescue. AGAIN
The multiplayer was the best!!
I've never played 1 (I remember something about the controls being off) but H&D2 is fantastic, I love that game.
Man, I remember playing the demo, getting hooked, and then trying to find a torrent for like 8 hours. I couldn't find anything so I ended up finding a 2 dollar copy at a GameStop across town in their used pc game section. When I bought it the guy told me it's just been sitting there for like a decade. I still could never find a copy of saber squadron though.
Wasn't the first game free until now?

Actually Deluxe Edition is one of those goodies in original H&D1 at GOG.
All I remember from HD1 is some rainy bridge that made my guys undead and run around with missing limbs and head.
terrifying when you're a kid.
might be worth checking out again
Does this come with 1920x1080 widescreen support now? That's the only thing that really kept me from playing it again. I'd consider it one of the best action/stealth games created tbh.
