Deadliest Warrior turned into shit anyway. All the fights now are guns vs guns, makes the show boring as shit. When they started off they intentionally made opposites fight, ninja vs spartan, viking vs samurai, it was much more interesting that way.
I've never actually seen Deadliest Warrior, historical accuracy aside is it still entertaining to watch? I've been thinking about watching it

no, it's in the Knowledge episode

It's entertaining if you don't get caught up on the small things.
I was seriously considering taking it out of context and putting it on YouTube
I've never actually seen Deadliest Warrior, historical accuracy aside is it still entertaining to watch? I've been thinking about watching it
It's entertaining if you want to see exotic historical weapons and what damage they are capable of. Really, the obliteration of those jelly bodies should really make any special effects fan happy. Everything else is shit. The teams are badly acting dipshits, always having this horribly staged competition of throwing puns at oneanother, the 'experts' of the show just stand there and make stupid remarks and that computer simulation thing is, and I bet my balls on this, just a 20 minute off-screen discussion.
So I still watched every episode, scrolling from test to test. Those look better than most hollywood movies if you are into that sort of thing.

There's a thing called "guilty pleasure". It's when you enjoy a thing but you know it's shit. There is nothing wrong with enjoying anything really, but you always have to look at it critically and objectively and be ready to admit that a thing might be utter bollocks, even though you enjoy it. Because if you can't stand the fact that a thing you like is actually really bad in many ways, you will block the bad from your head and blindly defend it and you will look stupid, being oblivious to something like criticism on a differend intellectual level than where you move on when enjoying it.
Don't be an ass, look at things from differend perspectives.
Like I said, Deadliest warrior is a steaming load of wank in many ways and sometimes downright blunt and ignorant to a countrys history and the victims of the many wars, but if you enjoy the rest, don't swat that stuff off.

Deadliest Warrior isn't bad. It's not the greatest show out there, and in a lot of way it has gone downhill from the earlier episodes (especially in the newest season,) but it isn't shit.
The issue I have with most (no you, since you're just saying that it's shit,) people who argue that it's a bad show is that they make assumptions that are shown to be completely wrong if you do a little bit of research, or things that aren't necessarily true.
Things like people saying that The Edge is a way of the producers fixing the results (completely fucking wrong, and it was never implied in the slightest that the edge has any effect on the simulation,) or that they only test the weapons once or twice, when they actually spend entire days testing weapons fairly thoroughly. Or people assuming that, since an expert on martial arts they brought is mainly a stunt double, he obviously doesn't have any real martial arts training.
Don't get me wrong, the show has its faults. But people piss me off when they're blatantly wrong about this shit, and don't bother to verify what they spew.
More on the point of Charlie Brooker's point, he was being way too obvious and not putting up much of an argument at all. He ended up just boiling down to "they're just blowing things up and making the Nazi's seem cool! That's BAD!"
Which is neither accurate nor a real argument.
Fuck, why didn't I hear about this show?

The show is a boiling pot of piss and there is no science behind it. Its just a show where you get to see asshole's shoot a pig carcass. Stop pretending like its advancing science. All it does is satisfy the needs of people who actually argue over whether Goku or Superman would win.

Deadliest Warrior is about as scientific as this Mugen fight.
-snip-
I am flabbergasted on a level I can not even describe by how poorly thought out and bad this post was. I honestly suggest that you snip it for the time being, rethink it, and then edit it back to something a bit better. Please. Or at least elaborate your meaning beyond "it's shit and you're wrong."
I'll retort if you want, but I really think you should get a do-over for that.

The show's experiments are faulty. It isn't real science.
I'm comfortable about how I put it. I don't want to hide anything.
I'm comfortable about how I put it. I don't want to hide anything.
Alright then.
There is no science behind it.
This is factually incorrect.
You can argue all you like that the science behind the show is inefficient, ineffective, or downright inconclusive compared to the standards of scientific testing for the sake of science, and these would all be more or less true.
But even the worst, most horribly done and downright badly thought out science is still science.
Its just a show where you get to see asshole's shoot a pig carcass.
Pigs are good analog for human bodies, which has been said numerous times in the show. They present many of the same qualities of human flesh, muscles, et cetera.
Stop pretending like its advancing science.
I ask you to please reread through my post again. At no point did I ever even imply that what Deadliest Warrior was doing was advancing any part of science.
The way they test in Deadliest Warrior might, and I'm seriously overstating that, help advance warfare technologies and tactics if they were testing weapons currently in development. But, it would hardly be efficient, and it certainly would not be the best way.
All it does is satisfy the needs of people who actually argue over whether Goku or Superman would win.
Goku and Superman are two fictional characters. It's impossible to accurately portray their abilities in scientific values.
(Superman would win.)
Deadliest Warrior is about as scientific as this Mugen fight.
Again, factually incorrect.
Video games are not inherently scientific, and they usually aren't, for a very good reason. If a video game is as realistic as possible, it would neither be fun, nor entertaining, and thus defeat the entire purpose of playing it.

Sure bad science is still science, but if you do your experiment poorly you don't get good results.
Pigs are good analog for human bodies, which has been said numerous times in the show. They present many of the same qualities of human flesh, muscles, et cetera.
Correct. My argument was that the experiments are handled poorly. Just because the gun punches bigger holes doesn't make it a better weapon. You also need to account for the training of the soldiers handling the weapon and tactics involved with said weapon.

If it isn't efficient its hardly worth doing so no they couldn't use this to test weapons.
Goku and Superman are two fictional characters. It's impossible to accurately portray their abilities in scientific values.

That was a hyperbole.
This show is purely for entertainment purposes and the fact that anyone looks at this and thinks it is hard science is what I disagree with.

Once again just a metaphor.

Then you're arguing with the wrong person, as I never said it was. It's not science for the sake of science, it's science for the sake of entertainment.

Its entertainment for the sake of entertainment.

Using science. Bad science, but
bad science is still science,

Using science. Bad science, but
Sure, but you wouldn't really tell anyone the results of a poorly conducted experiment if you had any kind of integrity. If you published your results in a botched experiment and they happened to be the complete opposite of the truth people will call you an idiot.
I threw a ball into the air and recorded its upward velocity of it. I did this several times, but I did not record the downward velocity so therefore gravity and any other acting forces on the ball do not exist.

Then stop saying that its science. It's not science.
Also its not even that entertaining. Its like the Jersey Shore of "science" shows.
There is that show Sports Science which is similar, but not as retarded. I would rather watch that.
Then stop saying that its science. It's not science.
It is science. They're taking a question and developing a way of testing in order to come closer to an answer.
Science does not need a practical purpose.

pirate VS knight seriously pissed me off
the way the pirate kept taking hits and NEVER RELOADED A SINGLE TIME, pirates have weapons that would mostly barely even make a knight flinch, other than the pistols, which need reloading anyways, should I mention knights are trained and pirates are not? Or the fact that they have no consideration for actual skill?
just shows how terrible the show really is

You do realize that the fight at the end isn't actually how they determine who wins, and isn't representing the simulation at all, right?
And pirates did actually have training. It was called "living." They didn't just pirate stuff on the weekends for fun. They did it to survive.

You don't think people came up with an efficient way to test soldiers and weapons before this show came out?
lol don't point out the fact that it was an opinion. Just by reading that you know it was my own bias that came up with that idea. You still don't seem to grasp the idea of exaggeration or even latent sarcasm.
You don't think people came up with an efficient way to test soldiers and weapons before this show came out?
Please, do tell, how does this factor into determining whether or not how they test weapons is scientific.
