Took my first dose today and I was just wondering what to expect in terms of an initial breakout. Is anybody else here on it?
I got a buddy who's been on it for a few months now, his acne is going away a little, dont know about side affects. There was on time when he took it with another acne medication, then ate chinese food and was on some sorta natural high, shit was wierd.
u are a teenage geek, you guys all have acne untill like 20 years old; acutane aint gonna fix shit bro.

Just be aware that Accutane isn't always worth the risk. I used it when I turned 16, and it didn't do anything for me; didn't make me worse or better. I cleared up naturally at 18 anyways.
Be careful because that shit is hard on your liver and kidneys.

Thanks a bunch for the helpful advice.
I am on doing monthly blood work to watch out for my liver and stuff
I had a buddy who used it and he started losing his hair a little.
You're risking several vital organs so your face doesn't look as splotchy.
I rank this up there on the same stupidity level as people who get plastic surgery without a medical reason.
I went through accutane for 6 months. Its been almost 3 months since I stopped, and I still have a little acne and my face is always red. It's not very fun.
Was it worth it? Maybe.

I understand the risks but it has gotten so bad on my back that it has started affect my daily life in the fact I cant put a backpack on because of the pain or sit down in a hard backed chair. When your school has nothing but hard backed chairs the risk starts to look reasonable. But I do see where you are coming from in terms of the risk

How does acne do that.
You have acne on your ass? Most likely mosquito bites, mate.
I was on a form of accutane for a few months, cleared my bad acne right up, I occasionally still get a few zits here and there, but really, who doesn't, my only side effect was my lips dried out, and I would occasionally have nose bleeds from my nose drying out, but that was mostly an existing condition, you'll be fine.

yours must've been as bad as mine, my doc perscriped a seperate medication to help get rid of the scarring, you should talk to your doctor about something to help fade it away, it'll eventually fade away on it's own though.
The end result (that might not work anyway) is definitely not worth the risks.
I was going to go on this a few months ago and then I read the side effects.

* Hepatotoxicity (liver damage)
* Anaphylaxis (rapid and deadly allergic reaction)

* Agranulocytosis (a serious condition in which white blood cells decrease in number or disappear altogether) (rare)
* Rhabdomyolysis (potentially fatal disease that destroys skeletal muscle) (rare)

Because brain swelling and permanent blindness isn't good enough.

Get a second opinion. I've never heard of acne causing that. Sounds like some kind of rash.
I really don't believe suicide attempts and depression had anything to do with accutane, that comes from back in the 80s or so when some kid who just happened to be on it killed himself and the family sued, but really think about the person that would be taking accutane, bad acne, probably has no girlfriend, bullied in school because of the acne, I'd be willing to bet at least one person on it would kill themself for unrelated reasons.

yeah that doesn't sound like acne to me.

It is severe cystic acne.

People get bullied for acne? I used to have it really bad and I took the accusations of having flesh-eating disease as complements.
It is severe cystic acne.
oh I had that, shit was bad, accutane really is the only thing that helped, people need to understand cystic acne isn't a few zits here or there that's a pretty serious medical issue.
People get bullied for acne? I used to have it really bad and I took the accusations of having flesh-eating disease as complements.
oh I know I did haha, then again I also used to be very short and fat, but I've heard of alot of people being bullied over acne.

When I went there the ladies told me that the suicide attempts were one isolated incident like you said, but the depression is still a side effect that may or may not take place.

Lol Necrotizing Faciitus. I did a report on it this year :P
meh I chalk the depression up to teens being overly dramatic teens.

State an instance of permanent blindness happening because Accutane has actually been used to restore sight to blind animals.

I laugh SO fucking hard at this.
I try not to judge people but it's typically true. I was blessed to be born with pretty good skin.

Wow, when it get's into words I can't pronounce at first glance, you know it's bad.
I'm on it, it's great, only side effects are my lips get chapped, works great :D

I want a source on this too. The packet I got specifically said "Permanant vision loss"
It reminds me of that old strip from Clover's "Jeff" comic, where he was advertising the antidepressant DEPRESSINOL.
Very big. Right click and click view image, then zoom in.

Seriously, I'll wait a little bit until my acne clears up on its own. I like living.
Uh I read somewhere that the company who made it stopped because of some issues they had with it.

When did you get your packet and what was it? Was it the iPledge one?
