Egyptian father names daughter 'Facebook' to honor Egyptian uprising
A father in Egypt has named his daughter "Facebook," to commemorate the role of the social networking site in the uprising that eventually led to the "dethroning" of now former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
Created by now world famous Googler Wael Ghonim, the “ We Are Khaled Said ” Facebook page emerged just days after Said’s death in June of 2010.
The page was key during the uprising.
Ghonim seemed to vanish during the uprising; it wasn't until after Ghonim was released from the custody of Egyptian National Security Forces...
Title pretty much says it all, I think it would be really funny if she turned out to be incredibly antisocial.
It's nice he's trying to honor the uprising, but this isn't a way to do it.
I'll name my son Idiot to honor the rising levels of stupid worldwide.
The parents can still change her name after they're forgotten. If they don't, she'll just have to live a childhood of ridicule. :v:
Im going to name my son "toilet" Because thats where I got my girl pregnant.
His brother Twitter is quite happy with that, but they somehow lost the other sibling.. Myspace.

Don't forget their other brother: Bebo.
"Facebook is now on Facebook"
I'll name myself Facepunch to honor Facepunch.
It's nice that he's honoring the overthrowing and all but this is a little bit much, he is going to regret it so badly down the road.
Isn't Facebook copyrighted? not that anything is going to happen.

They'll hunt her down and make her change her name to either "face" or "book". Oh wait, they're trying to claim those words too.
I'll name my son 'Twitter' then.

i know a guy who was named Myspace due to he was popular for a while but got burned out later on
If you think about it, Facebook is made of two English words. He likely only speaks Arabic. Facebook probably sounds foreign and nice to him.
Hell, most names are actually words in different languages. Lay off.

I know a kid named Fielding, after baseball. When you grow up with him you don't even think about it, outside the occasional jab, which doesn't matter because he's not a tightass and has a sense of humor about it. He makes fun of his own name pretty often too. His life hasn't been hindered at all, it's not as bad as you think it is.
It probably sounds better if you don't speak English.
And so Facebook takes its place as Egypt's new god.
Pharaoh Zuckerberg
I hope her surname is "akee" ... Facebook akee ... Face bookakee ... hehehe .. he .. hehe ... ok, that was bad! :rimshot:
I can see her getting slapped with many books in school.
I shall name my son Gaben to Honor VALVe. Wait, that sounds like a real name.
I'm going to name my son Dima, to honour me, my dad, and my grand-grandfather, and so he could say that he's Dmitry the Fourth.
