Police say they have launched two separate investigations after allegations of police brutality at Sydney's Mardi Gras celebrations.
A video posted on YouTube shows a policeman throwing the handcuffed 18-year-old to the ground and putting a foot into his back after the parade on Oxford Street on Saturday night.
The young man appears to have a head injury, and an officer repeatedly tells witnesses to stop filming as the man cries and cowers on the ground.
What happened between police and the man before the incident is not clear.
Assistant Police Commissioner Mark Murdoch says that confrontation, at 10:00pm, and another incident at 11:30pm are now being examined.
"Both investigations have been referred to the Professional Standards Command who will conduct a thorough, professional investigation," he said.
"They are clearly the subject of oversight by the New South Wales Ombudsman and the Police Integrity Commission should they see fit to do so," he said.
"Given our recent experience, I would subject that the NSW Ombudsman will be paying close attention to both investigations."
This has so many similarities to the case where SA Police where suspected of drowning a guy in the Torrens River for being gay

not to be the bad guy here, but the kid must've done something behind the scenes that got himself on the wrong side of those policemen. not to say that these guys aren't total dickbutts, but there must've been some sort of provocation on his part
at least, I hope

This does not explain why they should brutally beat him up.

they say he bit and kicked the officer in the video but the police at no time had the authority to run him into the ground like that
According to the story, he was crossing the road after the 'curfew' for the parade and it went from there. I also reckon he looks like he kicked or tried to kick the officer who threw him to the ground in the video.
No way should they have done that, specially after he was in handcuffs. There is easier ways to take a person to the ground without causing harm to the restrained person
Holy shit!
There was some force behind that.
I hope that guy is okay.
Just an update to this, I was right the guy was resisting arrest and kicking the shit out of the officers. He was originally detained for 'trying to tickle a woman he didn't know'.

Doesn't even slightly justify their excessive force
Doesn't even slightly justify their excessive force
Yes rusty your point is extremely valid because being a police officer and being kicked and punched does not warrant use of force, if you don't want excessive force to be used you don't assault a officer, if you actually watched the other video's and angles you see the guy assaults the officers, his own fault and wherever or not he is gay has no point.
so basically your a dumbarse to think this was a wrong use of justice.
I'll just post an Australian source

You can clearly see that police brutality, those fuckers

They did possibly go too far. But if someone is assaulting police they are in their rights to stop him attacking people.
