A German container ship ran aground off the coast of Hong Kong as monsoon winds caused rough sea conditions in one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes. The vessel Hansa Constitution ran aground off the residential district of Pok Fu Lam on the western side of Hong Kong Island, duty officers at the police’s public relations branch said by phone today, citing a report filed at 3:24 p.m. local time. The ship could be seen off the coast with tug lines attached, near the Scenic Villas apartment complex, at 5:45 p.m.
There were no reports of casualties or water leaking into the ship, and there is no danger of the vessel sinking, according to the Hong Kong police. The extent of damage to the ship, which is about 193 meters (633 feet) long, is unclear, they said.
Probably at a close distance it made a Rrrrrrnnnnnnnnssssssssss
Being from the midwest I can't imagine looking out my window each morning and seeing those massive ships go by.
It has to fucking suck being the captain of that ship. It's so huge and bulky that all you can do is sit and watch as your ship runs aground at walking pace.
On a completely different note, the place in the video looks beautiful, with all the wildlife noises.
It takes a long time to stop such a large ship, especially when it's loaded.

Hardly walking pace at all. It looks slow, but take into consideration the sheer size and weight of that thing.
