I'm sure if the most perfect game came out and TB played it, but it had no FOV slider, it be a 8/10.

It wouldn't be the perfect game without a FoV slider.

I'm just pointing out he really fucking hammers that FOV slider.
Don't think I've used a FoV slider ever.
I'm just pointing out he really fucking hammers that FOV slider.
Yeah and? It's a pretty big deal. If your game doesn't have a fov slider then it's a broken product, simple as that.
yeah, right! TB is too nitpicky, let's enjoy shitty upscaled console ports with the only graphic option available is "brightness", everyone!
I'm just pointing out he really fucking hammers that FOV slider.
I also hammer that FoV slider.
Simply because it's such an easy feature to implement, yet nobody fucking bothers to implement it. Most of the time, games are created on an engine's super fancy editor. In this editor, is a player entity. Child of this, is a camera. This camera will usually have an FoV option that you can also change in realtime via a single line of code. Do they bother? No.
Never got people who whine about fov being too low for them, the only game where it was even noticeable for me was 2033 and even then it was easy to get used to.

Except for, you know, all the games that don't have them. Half Life, Half Life 2, System Shock 2, Doom... The original Mario games... Legend of Zelda... Solitaire...

Low FOV gives some people motion sickness, it's a medical thing or something.

Ehh, the whole FOV argument only affects FPS's
Except for, you know, all the games that don't have them. Half Life, Half Life 2, System Shock 2, Doom... The original Mario games... Legend of Zelda...
Half Life 2 actually has an FoV slider now. All Source games that run a somewhat modern version of Source do.
Doom didn't need to have an FoV slider because it isn't proper 3D. It's psuedo-3D, which is done via ray casting.
Plus, monitors weren't huge in the 90s. What looks like a ridiculously low FoV to our monitors nowadays probably looked decent in the 90s.

Given he says narrow FOVs make him feel sick, I think it's understandable he would be forceful with it.

Oh my, this is the guy from the super bitter and regretful OUYA unboxing. Damn he's fun.

Christ this video makes me tear up in laughter
How many games have them? The only games I've ever been able to adjust FOV in was due to mods
How many games have them? The only games I've ever been able to adjust FOV in was due to mods
Pretty much most FPS games on PC have them, and if they don't they should.
I get really bad motion sickness playing a PC FPS that has a FOV of less than 90, it makes games unplayable.
i think part of the reason a lot of games come with fewer graphic options these days may be because the divide between good and bad pcs has gotten a lot less noticeable over the past five years or so. just a thought. that's caused in part by the fact that the previous console generation went on for way longer than anticipated so the technology became a bit stagnant. maybe we'll see an increase in graphics options now that, with the new consoles just released, devs can push on with hardware improvements like that which we were used to seeing in the ~2005-2008 era
Never got people who whine about fov being too low for them, the only game where it was even noticeable for me was 2033 and even then it was easy to get used to.
I cannot stand any game with an FOV less than 90.

um, no
there are no variety in console hardware so assuming the developer did a good job utilizing the hardware there's no point in graphics options
but then lazy cashcow pc ports happen and nothing gets added, except for maybe external .exe launcher for setting up keys
Except for, you know, all the games that don't have them. Half Life, Half Life 2, System Shock 2, Doom... The original Mario games... Legend of Zelda... Solitaire...
You only named a single modern game (that's more than a half a decade old) and even then it DID have an FoV slider.
Never got people who whine about fov being too low for them, the only game where it was even noticeable for me was 2033 and even then it was easy to get used to.
That's just you then, because it makes me very uncomfortable to play an fps game without the FoV being at least 90.
default settings are fine for me in many instances but sometimes a game can just feel like

Try playing Zeno Clash 1/2 and saying that there's no need for FOV options.
I don't get motion sick or anything I just like being able to see more of the game without having to move my mouse around.
Why you would want this (FOV 75, default)

Over this (90)
[t]http://i.cubeupload.com/6nAyCt.jpg[/t]
is beyond me.

What was the FoV at in Zeno Clash 1/2?
I know for sure that STALKER: Call of Pripyat's FoV was bloody awful.
Ahem.
IIRC HL2 originally didn't have a FoV slider at all, it was default 75 (still is) and you used the console to change it. I could be wrong though, it's been a while.

One of the Source engine updates added the FoV slider.
