Here's another review for my other gun, a CM.122 or a P226 The box: Pretty simple, a picture of the gun a reminder to use 6mm BB bullet and the underage warning. Inside the box: Inside we find the standard styrofoam packing with a plastic cover. This came with the gun, a spacial battery and charger, a speed-loader, an unjamming rod and a simplistic manual with surprisingly good English. The Gun: Here's an old picture of it. It is ungodly large. Imagine, if you will, a P226 as big and chunky as a Desert Eagle. Here's a size comparison with an iPod Classic: The slide is made of metal but the rest of it is a durable plastic. It does come with a rail underneath but it is almost double the standard size. To prove my point, here it is next to the rail on top of my 552: The sights are quite hard to use since the gap between the teeth isn't very deep. The Battery: It did come with a small Ni-MH battery with 450mAH and 7.2V. What you see is what you get basically: To install the battery, first pull down the lever used for un-cocking the gun if it were real. This unlocks the slide so you can move it forward and up. On the right side, there is groove to slide the battery in. Place the battery there and push it in. Then simply replace the slide. To remove the battery, remove the slide and on the left side there is a tab. Pull on it and it will push the battery out. Hop-up: The hop-up on the gun is adjustable and the little wheel to adjust it with is visible in the last picture. The Magazine: It came with one magazine that holds 30 rounds.. Every so often though, the BBs stick to the walls and it doesn't feed into the gun, forcing me to remove the magazine, push the little tab forward and reload. I'll try using some oil to fix it. Here it is going into the gun: Other features: The safety is the tab that should unlatch the slide on the real gun It can also fire in full auto. The hammer makes a nice sound when it is pulled back and released. Problems: Sometimes, in combat, when I remove the magazine but keep it inside the grip and reinsert it, it gets stuck there and I can't shoot. What happens is that the BB that goes into the chamber doesn't stay there and when I push the magazine back up it gets stuck between the walls and the internals rather than in the chamber. I have to remove the slide and pull the BB out with a hook or something. Pros: Fully-automatic for when you need that extra firepower Feels good to use Big and chunky (can be a con) Cons: The magazines are impossible to find It's too big and chunky to use regular holsters The rail is too big to mount certain attachments The magazine doesn't feed properly sometimes The BB can get jammed inside the body The rear sight isn't deep enough Overall I think this is a good gun. I spent the equivalent of $60 for it and it works better than expected aside. As for the holster, I use one of my mag pouches instead since my mags just clip together. The only practical use for this gun though, are skirmishes in CQB. With the impossibility to find spare mags, 30 rounds will only last so long.
That's an AEP right? $60? If my CO2 pistol ever breaks I might look into an AEP
When I saw the size of it I said "fuck shit" like 20 times.
Yes, it is an AEP and it did cost the equivalent of 60 of your American Dollars. I bought it using part of my birthday cash at a local retailer and it was almost half the price of any of their gas pistols. I also decided I didn't want to keep buying gas canisters so I went for it. I also said "fuck shit" when I REALIZED how ungodly huge it was.
I still have horrible memories of using it and realizing I didn't have a magazine inserted
Are most AEPs that cheap? That's amazing. I would much prefer one over my CO2 pistol, which I got for the same price. But the CO2 would probably hurt more. It hurts like a bitch.
AEP's are kind of weak. In my experience, the one's I've used are sub-280 FPS, if even that high. Still fun though, using the CM030 is a blast.
I don't think I'd need power. I mean 280 will still hurt, it's not like it's going to be a long range weapon. CQB or backup if anything. But I am really looking forward to an AEP when my CO2 breaks. What are good AEP brands/guns? Looking around I saw the obvious TM. The Glock 18C I think it was looked really nice, but a bit expensive. But I might want to pay that bit more.
I'm not sure why you would use a AEP, they generally are weaker so I would be worried about people not feeling it. GBB's are the most effective sidearm IMHO.
I'm not sure why you would use a AEP, they generally are weaker so I would be worried about people not feeling it. GBB's are the most effective sidearm IMHO.
They cost more and require more maintenance.
This is true I guess, but my mentality is that you get what you pay for, so you are better off paying more for something that will last as long as possible and be the best. Maintenance isn't really that bad, after a game I spend <30 cleaning out my Glock. But, nevermind. This is a review thread and not a AEP vs GBB discussion.
Also weather plays a factor in being able to use GBB's. If you've got an AEP, you don't have to worry about the weather adversely affecting your gas and mags.
That's why I would like an aep. Won't have to worry about gas. Co2 I waste a canister every game, not even used the whole time. And I would think you would still feel 280.
I said sub-280, keep that in mind. I've had about four different AEPs, two of which I still have, and only the WELL MP7 I still use for CQB reached that when it was new. The Skorpion clone ran at about 250, an Evike rebrand of some M93R only hit about 220, and the CM030 (Glock 18C) I'm using as a backup is only netting around 220~ after a huge amount of use last summer. It's ultimately your call whether or not you want to pick one up, but I recommend only using one in a SHTF-kind of situation.
I'm not quite sure on the FPS but if I had more money, I'd have bought a gas M1911 for sure. Since I don't I got that instead. I'm now saving up for a Bar-10 so I can get one when the gun ban ends.
