Trump Says He Is Willing to Speak Under Oath to Mueller
Donald Trump said late Wednesday that he would be willing to speak to the special counsel office’s under oath, adding that he was “looking forward” to talking with Robert Mueller, who is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election, including alleged contacts with the Trump campaign.
Speaking with reporters before he set out for the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Trump was asked about a potential interview with Mueller.
“I’m looking forward to it,” he answered. “I would love to do it.”
He added that the interview could occur in “two or three weeks”.
Trump’s statement would seem to end months of speculation about whether the special counsel would interview the president, though he also said he would testify under oath last year.
Wonder if he'll actually do it and is just blustering in advance because the walls are closing in on him, or if the next "two or three weeks" will be filled with desperate flailing around and trying to weasel out of it and nothing actually happens for another month or so.
I'm mostly just expecting him to immediately say something to contradict this.
Trump's word is literal dogshit, he could come out tomorrow morning and say Mueller has been very dishonest and he will not speak to him

That long? Mueller must be going easy on him.
Mr. Mueller let me point you to exhibit A, the 2016 electoral map

I wouldn't be surprised if the whole meeting is just Trump repeatedly going "There is no collusion" to waste Mueller's time and to posture to his cult like a baboon showing he's the alpha male.
We have footage of a Trump deposition from summer 2016 btw, this is what he's like in that situation

Don't know if I should make a new thread for this breaking story, but I think it can go in this one.

Senate Dems want to share Don Jr. transcripts with Mueller
Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Sheldon Whitehouse, two Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee, asked the committee's chairman, Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, to share transcripts of their interviews with witnesses in the Russia probe with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, Politico reports. One of the transcripts they want to provide Mueller is from the committee's interview with Donald Trump Jr.
Why it matters, via Politico: "The request ... reflected the partisan tension in a judiciary committee whose investigation has for months been splintered along party lines." Blumenthal said the transcript could be "explosive," per Politico.
Oath-sworn perjury demonstrating obstruction of justice, plus the unknown quantity of unrevealed shit Mueller is expected to have, is enough for a referral to the DOJ to refer to the House for impeachment.
Don Jr. alone publicly provided evidence of obstruction of justice when he tweeted out the "I love it" Russia meeting emails in full.
However, I get the feeling that Mueller wants to have a metaphorical loaded gun in one hand (the ability to forward Congress a clear-cut impeachment case) as a defensive measure while he rounds up as much incriminating evidence to take down as much of the conspiracy's membership as possible.
Don't get your hopes too high, thinking this is the final, end-all battle. I'm interested in hearing the outcome of it, and I fully expect Trump to do something stupid, but don't think it'll be the beginning of impeachment.

"The emails, that's all, that's all they were working on, you better believe it. Did you see my election map?"
Trump probably thinks he's a master negotiator I guess, he has less self control than everyone Mueller's interviewed so far though.
Looks like congressional gop members are starting to get worried.
Amid new signs that special counsel Robert Mueller is pursuing an obstruction of justice case against President Donald Trump, Republicans in Congress have intensified their own investigations of the Justice Department's and FBI's handling of inquiries into Trump’s ties to Russia.
This bit at the end of the article is uh pretty bad
In the middle of the increasingly pitched partisan offensives, the FBI announced that chief of staff James Rybicki — a former member of Comey’s close-knit team — would leave the agency and be replaced by an ally of Comey’s successor, Christopher Wray.
Rybicki was interviewed last week by the House oversight and judiciary committees, and lawmakers involved in the interview say they didn’t believe that anything in his testimony precipitated his departure. But a Democrat who was in the room said he worried that the grilling Rybicki and others have faced could have a chilling effect on the activity of FBI officials.
“What I really fear, ultimately, is the administration is beginning to force out or drive out of the FBI people that they perceive to be unfriendly to the administration or somehow politically not in alignment with them,” the Democrat said in a phone interview.
“We cannot have a situation where we’re administering loyalty test to officials at the FBI,” he said, adding that that’s “what differentiates the FBI here from law enforcement in banana republics.”
So for people who don't want to watch the video, two chefs who were supposed to have restaurants in one of his hotels wanted out of the lease after he made the comments about the judge presiding over the Trump U case.
When he's asked why he thinks they wanted to terminate the lease, he starts his usual schtick about how he was running for president against a lot of highly respected candidates and winning a lot of primaries, and also he doesn't understand what he could have said that was so bad because if he did why would he be winning.

As I write this reply, I'll admit I've only seen about fifteen minutes' worth of snippets from all over this video, but this sounds like an ordinary, polite interview. I can't watch this whole thing in one sitting. Should I assume you've seen the full video? If so, what should I be on the lookout for here, in relation to the news story?

It's not directly related to the news story, I think it was just posted to show how Trump acts in an interview type setting.
"He's so dumb, so so dumb, I had my fingers crossed the whole time so it wasn't true!"
He's just positioning himself so that he can say that he really wants to, but his lawyers told him not to.
Let's hope Mueller knows how to needle him just right. Trump has no self-control. It'd be childsplay to make him spill his guts. Of course he'll lie and say there was no collusion; he's already convinced himself of that.
Even if he says "under oath" he's still going to lie to Mueller's face, oath means nothing to Trump.
man known to be a pathological liar makes promises to testify under oath, don't make me laugh.

i'm no expert but i'd assume this interview is gonna take place with Trump's lawyer(s?) present, who will be making damn sure it goes as smoothly as possible and to whom Trump will no doubt refer to extensively before answering each question, even if they're just asking his fukin name lol. Anyone hoping for him to slip up and say something outrageous or blatantly contradictory is gonna be disappointed, but ofc him testifying under oath and flat-out denying all the charges will still give Mueller ammo later on for lying under oath -if- he actually finds anything.

Why it matters: The Russia probe continues to move closer to Trump's inner circle and scrutinize possible efforts to obstruct the investigations into ties between Trump associates and Russia. Mueller will reportedly interview Bannon by the end of the week.
