Francis also said he and his advisers are considering whether he might go to northern Iraq to show solidarity with persecuted Christians, but are holding off on a decision for now.
Deus vult
Deus vult
More like Papa vult (papa = pope in Latin)
Crusade!
More like Papa vult (papa = pope in Latin)
It also is in Spanish, but only when capitalized. El Papa = Pope La papa = potato El papá = dad Anyway, glad to see him doing this.
Will he send the Swiss Guard?
Man, you know you've done wrong when even the pope wants to kick your ass.
They should get the previous pope to use his force lighting attack on IS.
popemobile mounted flamethrower?
Honestly, I feel it might be a bit of a bad move for the church to show support against someone who sees themselves as the representatives of a religion. Could easily make intervention seem like religious warfare to the IS, more so than before, which in turn can be spun into propaganda and crusade-connections to recruit more fighters with. Just my $0.02, at least.
IS already consider themselves in a Holy War, might as well just clarify that for the other side I guess. Even the most liberal of people on the planet know that when you start chopping heads off and putting them on fence posts in the street it's time for some GBU-12s
pope of the year 2014

This will hopefully call the Christians in Iraq [regardless of association with the Papacy] up to arms to combat IS.)
More like Papa vult (papa = pope in Latin)
the joke may have just jumped over your head
the joke may have just jumped over your head
No, that was simply me being slightly pedantic. Trust me, I'm still kicking myself for being too late to post that.
If the Pope goes over to Iraq, he better have a good security detail.

It may contribute a bit of propaganda to the IS, but they already see it as a crusade. They already see themselves as fighting a holy war, regardless of what anyone says. This won't make any difference, aside from one more condemnation.
If the Pope goes over to Iraq, he better have a good security detail.
he used to be a bouncer and i wouldn't be surprised if he has weapons training, he'll be fine
he used to be a bouncer and i wouldn't be surprised if he has weapons training, he'll be fine
Imagine Pope Francis pulling a revolver from out of his robes and popping one into a militant's head as he's about to detonate the bomb strapped to his chest. Let that sink in for a moment.

So violence is verboten unless it's violence being directed against Islamists? I do highly agree that any action taken should be within the framework of the international community, though.
They should get the previous pope to use his force lighting attack on IS.
he'd have told us to wipe them out all of them
So violence is verboten unless it's violence being directed against Islamists? I do highly agree that any action taken should be within the framework of the international community, though.
Might have more to do that the militants are committing massacres and aiming for the Total Annihilation of all Christian's. But no your right maybe the pope just hates it when Islamic's are killing people.

They obviously don't mind shooting Christians, but eliminating them entirely is not their primary objective. Control is. The pope actually has a wonderful record of calling for peace and reconciliation everywhere from Korea to the Middle East to Ukraine. It seems hypocritical to uniformly call for peace, then come to this situation and say "Oh, yeah, except for those crazy Islamists, they should totally be killed."

Just let that sink in.
Did he execute order 66?
just realize you're defending ISIS here. Just let that sink in.
Dumb person missing the point. I am doing two things: -Stating that Pope Francis is kind of a hypocrite when he calls for peace everywhere else but here. -Correcting an asinine assumption that ISIS is attempting to exterminate all Christians, everywhere.
