I realize most of you don't follow boxing, but this is a great clip from the documentary/film TYSON that shows the psychological warfare side of boxing, and the fear that even the greatest of fighters feel before entering the ring.
Biting off someones ear is pretty intimidating.
This made me want to watch boxing, but not want to do it even more so.

I gathered this joke would come up, all I can say is it is sad that is what the majority will remember about him, it was a vicious response to headbutts by holyfield (Intentional or incidental) at a time in his career when he was very troubled and involved with some terrible people who leeched him of joy in his life.
But in his prime Tyson was one of the most exciting and technically sound heavyweights to ever grace the sport.
I like the sport, and do follow certain people. Wise words from the guy who bit Holyfield's ear
the way he describes is so fucking awesome. he would be a brilliant writer

Tyson is incredibly intelligent, contrary to what most people perceive about him from his media portrayal, but he was socially and emotionally crippled for most of his childhood.
The way he talks fascinates me, Tyson has always been completely candid, almost crassly so at times, about what he is feeling and what he is thinking.

No one can't deny the fact that Tyson was one of the greatest boxers after Muhammad Ali, but the guy is a bloody retard.
I guess that when you get hit in the face enough many times you turn out like he did. A total cunt.

And what pray tell, do you consider makes him a retard?
I bet if we had your entire young life on camera out in the public I bet I could point out a lot of weird and stupid stuff you did and easily label you a retard.

Uhm also you're the guy who posts made up stories about how he beats up 12 year old kids and takes their cigarettes for pleasing your moral superiority and trying to impress hundreds of strangers
Doesn't Mike Tyson have a TV show on Animal Planet about pigeons?
Doesn't Mike Tyson have a TV show on Animal Planet about pigeons?
Haha yeah, pigeon racing or some such. I haven't seen it.
I just don't like the way he refers to himself as the best fighter that ever lived, whether it is true or not.
I just don't like the way he refers to himself as the best fighter that ever lived, whether it is true or not.
I think that was the point he was making, he has to convince himself he's the best, to convince his opponent he's the best, so he can beat him.

It's called confidence,
Unless he thinks he's the greatest he can't be the greatest.

We don't really know is this documentary Tysons own words 100% or was it fabricated by some producer dude and he's just reading it.
We don't know the truth. Just like with the threads I make. You never know if they're true or not. You can only make assumptions.
The tribal tattoo on his face looks kinda dumb though.

As I said before, one thing if nothing else separates Tyson from other athletes and that is his complete candidness and honesty about what he is thinking and feeling. And I've watched most of Tyson's career, both boxing and media figure, those are his own words.
James Toback, the director, has been a good friend of Tyson's for quite some time, his objective with this film was basically to sit Tyson down in front of a camera and have him talk introspectively about various stages in his life. And if you had actually watched the documentary, you would know he pulls no punches nor shy's away from any topic. Tyson's biggest critic is himself.
How obsessed are you with Mike Tyson on a scale from 1 to insane
Why because I'm defending him from the kid who posts stories about how he heroically stops moral crimes being committed by 12 year olds? Ahahaha
In that case let's roll a 10.
Mike Tyson was pretty intimidating in Punch-Out!!.

Quick I think I see some 13 year olds talking about getting pussy at a party, you better go stop them and show them who the real man is.

I shall! Be back in a sec and I'll make a thread about it.
This made me go back and watch the 2002 Tyson Vs Lewis fight... if you watch the after fight interview he's a really nice guy.
Too bad like 2 months later he tried to kick the shit out of Lewis at a press conference, proceeded to call the news reporters "faggots", shove his crotch in their face, then get charged with rape.
Hm...

That's the period I refer to when he was involved with some really bad people (Don King is basically the worst person to ever be involved with boxing, that guy is a snake) and doing drugs and alcohol every night of the week.
The rape charge is questionable. Tyson to this day still contends that he is not guilty, and many others believe the trial was very poorly conducted (Washington changing her story multiple times, previous allegations of rape against prior boyfriends, willing to drop charges for 1 million etc). But that's not here or there.
Still, that period produced one of the most amazing one-liners I've ever heard, a straight man saying:
"I'll fuck you in the ass till you love me faggot!"
:v:
