I have no words that can describe the stupidity of this device.
There needs to be a convention to prevent shit like this ever being developed.
Why is the exit where the juice comes out so small. Why not make it large to pour in the juice faster. Why make it only work with Juicero brand products. The point of good inventions is universality. Why is it so fucking expensive. 700 $ was the original price, jesus. Why did Google invest into this. Why does this exist.
Is it really a juicer if its not actually using fruit/vegetables? I mean isn't that sorta the point. I guess a Bag Presser doesn't exactly sound as cool
I want off this planet full of rich retards who supported this shitshow of a kitchen appliance. We could have spent all that money on trying to save our planet from global warming. What the actual fuck.

For reference, at 3/4ths of the price, you can get a $300 top of the line, professional kitchen-grade juicer. For the remaining $100, you can buy a wheelbarrow's worth of fresh vegetables and make enough fresh delicious juice to hand out to everyone in your neighborhood, and still have enough to fill up your whole fridge. I fucking hate this modern trend of trying to be as "modern minimalist" as possible with the aesthetic without actually doing anything for how it works. This is just as wasteful as people who have Keurigs and buy single-use k-cups which don't taste anywhere near as good as fresh ground coffee.
Aren't Juicers supposed to get juice out of fruits? So in this case you're just buying a bag of juice that you need to pay 700 dollars for to open?

I'm currently making my application. Since I'm a complete beginner I only create super simple stuff like a solution for crooked tables or chairs. Nothing complicated because it would be too hard for me. But when I create/think up my stuff I always want it to have a reason to exist. I always try to imagine people actually using it instead of something else. This thing shouldn't exist because, as shown, other alternatives are better and cheaper. Some ideas just offer a new take on something. For example, here's an alternative kind of juice press by some random guy who submitted it to a University. Of course it's just an idea. No one knows if it would actually work and the problems it would have are kinda forseeable (like wouldn't the fruit flesh just fall down?) but it's about offering variety to common stuff.
Aren't Juicers supposed to get juice out of fruits? So in this case you're just buying a bag of juice that you need to pay 700 dollars for to open?
On their company website, what they essentially do is mulch the vegetables and fruits into pre-made flavor packets(which may or may not contain additional sugar for flavoring) and sell it to you for fucking $7 each juice. I'd rather go to my local hipster cafe and get an overpriced juice there for the same cost, because at least I know it was made the same day. Apparently the idea is that they can scan a QR code on the juice packets which relays data to their server so they can figure out if the juice contains ingredients that were recalled for being spoiled which.... doesn't make any sense, because you can go to the supermarket and use your own senses to figure out if the veggies/fruits are good or bad. Fuckin retarded.
For what purpose.
Read about this before, apparently the CEO released a press statement concerning the controversy. He also talked about the "purpose" of the device.
First, the Press. Our connected Press itself is critical to delivering a consistent, high quality and food safe product because it provides: The first closed loop food safety system that allows us to remotely disable Produce Packs if there is, for example, a spinach recall. In these scenarios, we’re able to protect our consumers in real-time. Consistent pressing of our Produce Packs calibrated by flavor to deliver the best combination of taste and nutrition every time. Connected data so we can manage a very tight supply chain, because our product is live, raw produce, and has a limited lifespan of about 8 days. The value of Juicero is more than a glass of cold-pressed juice. Much more. The value is in how easy it is for a frazzled dad to do something good for himself while getting the kids ready for school, without having to prep ingredients and clean a juicer. It’s in how the busy professional who needs more greens in her life gets App reminders to press Produce Packs before they expire, so she doesn’t waste the hard-earned money she spent on them. The sum of the system — the Press, Produce Packs and App — working together is what enables a great experience. However, you won’t experience that value by hand-squeezing Produce Packs, which to be clear, contain nothing but fresh, raw, organic chopped produce, not juice. What you will get with hand-squeezed hacks is a mediocre (and maybe very messy) experience that you won’t want to repeat once, let alone every day.
The good news in all of this, they're offering full refunds to whomever bought this thing.
I want to meet someone retarded enough to pay $400 for a glorified juicebox opener. I need to know what sort of madness has taken them.
Saw this in one of Casey Neistat's blogs and it looks so fucking stupid. I thought the whole point of a juicer was to have fresh, healthy juice right there and then. Buying it in prepackaged bags seems like the complete opposite of what a health freak would actually want. I'd also wanna buy a juicer that allows me to manually juice shit, so I can pick and choose what I want, instead of having to buy bags of flavours that I may or may not like.
The epitome of Silicon Valley vanity, its like these VCs, Engineers and Product Designers have literally no self-awareness. Also holy shit, Mike Judge continues to predict their folly: [img_thumb]https://productplacementblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Super-Angel-Juice-Extractor-Silicon-Valley-3.jpg[/img_thumb]
I think the worst part is you can tell a lot of effort went into this product's appearance and design. (Not its purpose, however) Someone, somewhere actually thought this was going to be the next big thing.

I too like investing in products that lock down their supply chain by offering repeat purchases of consumable packages with DRM, and a big fuck you to the consumer.

This is a juicer made by somewhat renowned French designer Philippe Starck, you can actually still buy these. From what I remember, it was made more to look good in a kitchen as a piece of art than to be an effective juicer.

Well, it's kinda hard to come up with something completely original nowadays. Everything has been done before. Sucks that it's not that good.
I'm trying to find the purpose for connecting it to the internet but I just can't, besides what was quoted above
It’s in how the busy professional who needs more greens in her life gets App reminders to press Produce Packs before they expire, so she doesn’t waste the hard-earned money she spent on them.
It's $30 a week for 5 packs and i can go to the local wal-mart and buy a bag of spinach for like $3
Throughout the whole video I was waiting for some kind of reason for the internet connection - no matter how stupid it might have sounded - but it never came. Obviously there's the whole QR code thing but surely that can't be their only justification?

Which is obviously a totally required and necessary step to press juice out of a plastic packet.
its literally a machine that pushes out a packet of juice for you for 400 dollars what the fuck?
just buy the packs and throw it in a blender
just buy the packs and throw it in a blender
Apparently they don't sell you the packs unless you own the system itself.
I guess this is a thing part of the Internet of Things, if so it really beats the point of IoT since the idea of IoT is automation, so for example its 7 AM, your alarm goes and your house basically starts doing shit out of itself like warming up the toaster, setting coffee, turning on the lights etc. Can thing thing even be programmed besides having to open the app just to start the device?
