• Apple says that MORE Samsung products infringe its patents (including the Galaxy SIII)
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Seeking to capitalize on a major legal victory over its rival Samsung Electronics Ltd, Apple Inc has asked a federal court in a separate case to find that four additional Samsung products, including the Galaxy S III, infringe Apple's patents. In February, Apple alleged that at least 17 Samsung products infringe its patents. In a court filing made in San Jose federal court on Friday, Apple added four more products to the list of allegedly infringing products that have been released beginning in August 2011 and continuing through this month. Apple won a major victory over Samsung last Friday in a separate case when a jury found that the South Korean company had copied critical features of the hugely popular iPhone and iPad and awarded the U.S. company $1.05 billion in damages. Samsung representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The case is U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, Apple Inc v. Samsung Electronics Ltd, et al 12-00630. As said before, both need to fucking quit it.
Here we go again.
Someone needs to fix the patent system so that this bullshit stops, really man it's just fucking dumb.
Wow, can't believe they had to start this all up again.
Fuck Apple.
*Gasp*
$1.5 billion wasn't fucking enough for Apple, apparently! God, I hope Google manages to tear them a new asshole but I have my doubts.

It's just fucking ridiculous that courts even allow this kind of patent litigation. If it's obvious that the patents are mostly trivial bullshit and that the company is only doing it just to stifle innovation, they should just throw the cases out. The fact that they are accepted as a real legal matter is fucking stupid. I hope the patent system gets reformed and that software patents are thrown out altogether.
$1.5 billion wasn't fucking enough for Apple, apparently! If there is such a thing for Apple, it's probably when it dominates the market without any serious competitors.
It'll be WAY harder for Apple to prove that the S3 is a copy of the iPhone in comparison with the Galaxy S and S2, Samsung did their best to adjust their design so it wouldn't infringe anything.
I remember the old times when competitors would improve their products to prove they're better instead of suing each other like corporate brats. Fuck you both, Apple and Samsung.
It would appear that the article doesn't mention what they're actually suing them for - and that's actually the ridiculous part. They're suing for "Slide to unlock" (I don't know whether you've seen how to unlock the SIII, but it's nothing like Apple's implementation) and something about universal search: http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/31/apple-samsung-galaxy-s-iii-galaxy-note-patent-lawsuit/#disqus_thread
Did Apple forget about this?
Man, if this keeps on, it might be better to ban both companies just like what South Korea did.
Both companies are required to sell all relevant products for what would be the normal duration. But all profit must be given to the Federal government for use in funding education. They don't get to see a dime (beyond what they would need for manufacturing costs). That oughta keep their damn mouths shut. [editline]1st September 2012[/editline] and it fixes our shitty public school system for a year or two everyone wins
i can see why they're mad, samsung iphones have better specs

I hope these aren't just some isolated incidents. If people actually are making the connection that Apple's and Samsung's products are basically the same, Apple would either have to lower their prices, take back most of what they said in court or actually make better products, and Samsung's sales will increase either way.

I hope Apple looses a lot of money because of Samsung. They're way too damn big when there are millions of alternatives.
Uhhh.. The Samsung Galaxy SIII has almost no similarities to the iPhone. Nothing about it is a downgrade or even on-par to the iPhone. It's solely an upgrade. Seems like Apple is jealous because they can't make a half ass phone design anymore since they're out of ideas. IOS is complete shit software, too. Maybe they should hire a fucking designer that believes in open source rather than some oppressive prick who wants to control exactly what you want to do. A friend that works for apple told me this, "iPhones are for really old people and hipsters. They're just simple to use and have a simple UI. That's it."

Oh okay. Apple must have a patent on being successful.
I'm not a patriotic person, but I can't help feeling a bit of national pride over this whole thing.
But rectangular screen!
