3. Why?
Domesticated animal- spray it with water. Especially works well with cats. I usually sit on the couch, and if I see the cat on the counter or in the sink I just stay where I am and use the squirt bottle I have next to me and I spray him. It doesn't hurt him, but he doesn't like it and learns not to go up on the counter quite quickly. I also make sure to use the word "No" several times, a word which this cat is starting to understand.
Humans? I usually ask nicely if I would like someone to stop something, and 90% of the time they will. If not I try to understand why they might be doing what they are doing and either provide them with something else that will satisfy whatever requirements are being met by what they are doing (if they're chewing on a pencil, offer them gum for example). If none of the above works and I have the option, I leave the room.

Idk if I understand the why part, but I can say I use water on the cat because it doesn't hurt him but gets my point across, and kind words with the human for the same reason. If the cat understood me better I would totally just talk to him.

there are 4 types of ways to you can condition animals or humans for a desired behavior. You have punishment and reinforcement. Reinforcement is when you award the subject with something they want or removing something they dislike or causes discomfort. Positive Reinforcement would be giving a dog a treat, or a human a candy bar. Negative reinforcement would be taking away an annoying noise, or removing a tac from the animal's foot. Punishment is when you add something undesirable or take away something wanted. Positive punishment is hitting/spraying the dog for doing something wrong and negative punishment would be like taking your kids video game. It all works for animals, but obviously punishment methods cause both humans and domesticated animals to be hostile.

It doesn't hurt them, but they cry like little shits and realize that if they don't do what you say they'll just get more wet.
So they do it.
I know this from experience, it's what my parents used to do

Most kids just laugh when you spray them with water though, I know I would not have cared at all if i got sprayed with water when I was a kid cause its just water lol and that video just shows the kid thinks its hilarious

yeah but water is uncomfortable, especially if it's a cold morning and you're in pyjamas then you your clothes and bed gets soaked with water. It essentially makes you have to get up to get away from the uncomfortable-ness
I don't know how viable (if at all) it would be against say misbehaving on a hot summer day though

I used to get the belt treatment. In retrospect it wasn't so bad(I was being a really bratty snot-nosed kid, seriously), but at times might have been borderline child abuse.
Oh well, i'm as laid back as possible, don't think it's really had any negative effect on me so it's fine.
Eh, there was no doubt that what I got was child abuse, bruises on my ass and lower back usually after a spanking(beating) with a belt. I was the happiest kid alive though when the wooden paddle got cracked in half even though it hurt, there was no fixing it.

That sounds like it sucks. Spankings with a belt aren't child abuse, but leaving lasting damage is. Also, child abuse usually happens for no reason (or at least no logical reason), not as a punishment but as a release of anger or a fight for control. Abuse almost always has to do with control.

My step mom was a bitch man, she was the whole reason I would get in any trouble. She would make up stories of all this bad shit that i never did and would tell my dad I did all this every other day and shit. Would take my 2 sisters and her daughter out to eat and leave me at the house to fend for myself when I was like 12. But hey im not really complaining, I learned to make some bomb ass shit that I still like today. Was probally the reason why i enjoy cooking present day lol
