Nailing down a campaign blueprint for Donald Trump and other candidates, the Republican platform committee signed off Tuesday on language that echoes the candidate's criticisms of free trade, U.S. foreign policy and the immigration system.
In addition to slamming current trade deals as job-killers, the proposed GOP platform attacks the Obama administration's counter-terrorism efforts and supports construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border — all familiar arguments from Trump on the campaign trail.
The proposed platform to be voted on at next week's Republican convention is a "guiding foundation of conservative principles" that all GOP candidates can use in the fall elections, said Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin, one of the committee chairs.
Another chair, Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming, read a preamble to the platform that invokes Trump's campaign slogan, saying Republicans want to "make America great and united again."
Wow,they really are throwing everything they got.Not enough.
It's appalling to watch party leaders like Reince Priebus try to shirk responsibility for the outcome of the Republican primary. They practically invited the bull into the china shop, and now they're throwing their hands up and acting like innocent bystanders. Cowards.
... What happened to distancing yourself to the losing Candidate guys?

It seems like you guys truly need an act of god to get a president that isn't terrible

We have Hillary and Trump
there is no god
Gotta love how far out of step the platform is from reality, god bless their shriveled little hearts because they quake in bed at night fearing the Gays agenda and Mexicans taking over this country
Funny how people shit all over Bernie for endorsing Hillary and then ignore crap like this.
Sanders only endorsed Hillary because she's preferable to Trump. A lot of strategic voters think that electing Trump president would be better than Hillary because they're gambling that he'd be stonewalled by congress. Never mind that in a time of high racial tensions, electing the man who has the endorsement of the KKK is going to destabilize the country further. Electing Trump would legitimize bigotry. Just look at the rise in hate crimes following Brexit. Better to have a corrupt criminal in office than him.

The tiny-ass modern KKK endorsing someone should not remotely be a reason not to vote for someone. They will always endorse someone and typically a conservative.
Just to prove how retarded a reason that one is;

If it was the only reason not to vote for Trump, your argument would be valid. The fact remains that he's quite demonstrably a bigot, and an emotionally unstable one at that. You do not put someone like that in charge of the world's primary economic and military superpower. Keep in mind, this guy advocated, among other things, targeting the families, the wives and children, of suspected terrorists. Trump's a clown, a con-man, a windbag, a compulsive liar, a narcissist, and a racist, sexist manchild. Not leadership material. His views - that he states openly, and as part of his political platform - would look more at home in the comments section of a racially-charged YouTube video on war than on the pulpit. The fact he's even gotten as far as he has is a symptom of something seriously, seriously wrong with your country. The same could be said of Hillary's rise, but that doesn't mean she isn't the more sane option.
The rest of the civilized world is watching your election right now with a sort of horrified, bemused fascination. It's like a singularity of concentrated stupid on all sides, and the best you guys can hope for is to go for the choice who is going to cause the least long-term harm. That choice right now is Hillary, despite her obvious corruption. Because no matter her political expertise, no matter what sinister plan you imagine she has for the seat of power, and what the country stands to lose with someone as sneaky and slimy as her in charge, all of it pales in comparison to what happens if Trump is elected.
I'm coming to the belief that hillary is equally as corrupt as most any other politician you'll usually see running for president, we're just more acutely aware of it because as a community facepunch has gotten old enough to see through the bullshit.
