I think taking the nudity out on the basis that internet porn has superseded it is dumb. It's just suposed to be a gentleman's magazines and the nude pics are a nice treat. Not there to compete with the internet.
If its non nude then it should have very expanded retail markets. I don't think freaking wal-mart or target sold these before but they could now. So thats probably the real reason. Internet probably ate up all their profits anyways.

I got my mum to buy that for me because I genuinely thought the magazine was about cars. When I got home and discovered it was softcore porn, well... it was the closest a 12 year old boy could ever get to striking a gold mine.
I preferred European Vogue magazines over playboy because the art that was put into the modeling was far superior (at least when I read them). (I remember some of the french and italian ones didn't shy away from full on nudity).

"gentlemen's club" is a specific thing that isn't a strip club. they're pretty high class places where the rich and famous and powerful hang out smoking Davidoff Royals and drinking Johnnie Walker. strip clubs are called gentlemen's club as a sort of tongue in cheek thing. I imagine gentlemen's magazine is the same joke.

had a similar experience. i was like 12 with my mom at a garage sale and there were a bunch of motorcycle toys and a couple magazines with chicks on the cover on motorcycles. i thought motorcycles were cool so i begged and my mom bought like 4 of the toys and all the magazines. boy oh boy was i excited when i realized they were all pornomags.
