• Playboy to remove nudity from its print magazine
Mr. Hefner, now 89, but still listed as editor in chief, agreed. As part of a redesign that will be unveiled next March, the print edition of Playboy will still feature women in provocative poses. But they will no longer be fully nude. Its executives admit that Playboy has been overtaken by the changes it pioneered. “That battle has been fought and won,” said Scott Flanders, the company’s chief executive. “You’re now one click away from every sex act imaginable for free. And so it’s just passé at this juncture.”
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/13/business/media/nudes-are-old-news-at-playboy.html I think taking the nudity out on the basis that internet porn has superseded it is dumb. It's just suposed to be a gentleman's magazines and the nude pics are a nice treat. Not there to compete with the internet.
If its non nude then it should have very expanded retail markets. I don't think freaking wal-mart or target sold these before but they could now. So thats probably the real reason. Internet probably ate up all their profits anyways.
Wait they had nudity in them? Not that many people buy them. I remember when I was like 12 years old at tge newsagents and there was a magazine with a chick on a classic muscle car on the cover. I got my mum to buy that for me because I genuinely thought the magazine was about cars. When I got home and discovered it was softcore porn, well... it was the closest a 12 year old boy could ever get to striking a gold mine.
I preferred European Vogue magazines over playboy because the art that was put into the modeling was far superior (at least when I read them). (I remember some of the french and italian ones didn't shy away from full on nudity).

Let's have a moment of silence for their photographers
WHY
Looks like it's back to reading Penthouse for me.
why would you buy porn lol [editline]13th October 2015[/editline] you could literaly google "16k resolution porn" and probably find like 80 trillion results
Now I can actually read Playboy for the articles.
But they were already pretty good.
In other news, hell is freezing over and reports are coming in that pigs are flying...
Let's have a moment of silence for their photographers
Yup. So sorry to hear they're now probably photographing inferior SG models. :/

Print media in general is dying, but porn mags? That died a looooong time ago [editline]13th October 2015[/editline] It sounds to me like they're basically rebrading as maxim, which is...
Let's have a moment of silence for their photographers
They could switch to photos with clothers, couldn't they?
It's just suposed to be a gentleman's magazines and the nude pics are a nice treat.
why do we call sex shit 'gentleman's x' gentleman's magazines, gentleman's clubs, like there's nothing sophisticated about porn magazines and strip clubs dude anyway I don't read Playboy in the first place so no skin off my back
Playboy ruined.
why do we call sex shit 'gentleman's x' gentleman's magazines, gentleman's clubs, like there's nothing sophisticated about porn magazines and strip clubs dude anyway I don't read Playboy in the first place so no skin off my back
"gentlemen's club" is a specific thing that isn't a strip club. they're pretty high class places where the rich and famous and powerful hang out smoking Davidoff Royals and drinking Johnnie Walker. strip clubs are called gentlemen's club as a sort of tongue in cheek thing. I imagine gentlemen's magazine is the same joke.
Now I can actually read Playboy for the articles.
I remember a playboy I found once had a legit interesting interview with Chris Rock, as well as general Y2K stuff. It was a 1999 issue obviously :v:
Here, 95% of the public only buy Playboy to see famous people naked.

next headline being "playboy go out of business. turns out no-one actually buys them for the articles."
I inherited a tool chest from grandpa and while going through it out I found a brown paper bag tapped shut. Upon opening it I find a huge stack of mostly-mint condition playboys and other nudie-mags from the 80s.

I bet the feminazis are behind this, amirite? :downs:
It's sad that future kids are never going to experience the thrill of stumbling upon on a secret stash of porn hidden in their home. They have to settle with digging through folders on an old harddrive and undeleted history
I bet the feminazis are behind this, amirite? :downs:
You're not even trying.
LOL how did you're mom not know,.
Sometimes I don't think she's 'all there'.
wow did everybody's dad/grandpa keep a box of playboys or what. I remember my grandpa use to have a lot of cool old baseball magazines and while I was up in the attic looking for more I stumbled upon a different box :)
