The first Star Wars spin off movie is STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE - Polidicks

Kathleen Kennedy and Tony To (Band of Brothers, The Pacific) are on board to produce and John Swartz (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) will co-produce. So are these going to be expanded universe movies or just the main characters from the existing saga?

I thought the first spin off we were supposed to get was a dedicated Boba Fett one? Not to say this wouldn't have him in there but I thought it would follow his story.

Star Wars tbh is the perfect base for amazing spin offs, just like star trek is but outside of great fanfiction and great games, star wars movies have been greatly neglected. and it's the best medium to tell a star wars story. [editline]12th March 2015[/editline] I hope that the prequals are rebooted at least vaders past could have been so much more, and I really want to like those movies.

Probably after George Lucas passes on.

The Han Solo Trilogy books would be cool to see as movies

The Star wars extended universe is awesome but the timeline confuses me a bit as I haven't really gone over it in great detail. Films about the sith vs jedi stuff like the old republic trailers would be awesome

There's just Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008), Star Wars: Rebels (2014), and about four novels and a comic series. Detailed plot summaries and a complete timeline of all of these are available online.
