How many of you have heard of the Battle of Los Angelas? Not many I assume, which is strange when you think about how big of a mystery the events of this "battle" is. What is this mystery, you ask? Well, it was Feburary 24th, 1942. Not much is known about the events that led up to the battle, but what is known is that Naval Intelligence delivered a warning to West Coast defense stations that an attack could be expected within 10 hours. At 22:23, the warning was lifted and the defense stations relaxed. Until later that morning when radars picked up an unidentified target 120 miles west of Los Angelas. At 2:15 AM, aircraft batteries were alerted and ordered to be ready to fire. A complete blackout of Los Angelas was ordered and thousands of Military personnel were ordered to their stations. Around 3 AM, the UFO came into range and the 37th Coast Artillery Brigade opened fire using it's AA guns. According to the few soldier reports available, many of the AA shells managed to get direct hits but the UFO continued on. Dozens of other lighter AA stations engaged the UFO aswell, utilizing 50-cal AA guns. Despite immense amounts of firepower, the UFO continued on. At 4:14 AM, the AA guns stopped. Over 1,400 12.8 pound AA shells had been fired and an unknown number of 50-calibre rounds, but the UFO had remained intact. The average amount of AA shells it took to take down an aircraft(including fighter and CAS aircraft) during WW2 was 482 shells. Some civilians and soldiers claim that there were atleast around four smaller UFO's shot down, but they were never reported found after hitting the ground. Astoundingly, there is no report as to what happened to the main UFO or where it went. In fact, there were only two reports from the Government at all. The first said that it was just a false alarm. When thousands of Military personnel aswell as civilians began to send in photos and video footage, the story changed. This time, the Government claimed it was a weather balloon. Despite thousands of requests for an explanation as to how a weather balloon moving slowly across the sky would survive such an immense barrage of firepower, the Military never launched a full inquiry. No Military official ever explained where the object went after moving out of range of Los Angelas either. Here are a few photos: Here are some videos of it aswell: While it probably wasn't aliens, I'm still greatly interested in having the Government actually make a decent inquiry into what it was. Sorry if this belongs in fast threads, by the way.
It's an album by Rage against the machine ;O

The first photo looks... Meh.

I for one welcome our new Swamp Gas Overlords

When did Los Angeles go from (pronounced like) 'angle' to 'ainjel' because it's pronounced 'angle' in the video.
Weather or not it was a balloon we'll never know.

Makes you consider the sorry state of anti-aircraft weaponry when they couldn't even shoot down a slow moving weather balloon... Twice...

It makes you think how the conversation went to cover it up "Oh it's not a UFO, it's a weather balloon!" "But why would it take so much damage?" "Weather balloon." "But ballons are made of comparatively weak materials that can easily be pierced by-" "Armoured weather balloon then" "But why would you armour a-" "We just did" "But if you did it, why was it unknown of, and fired upon? Surely if it was exceptional, you would keep track of it so that the apparently incredible armour wouldn't fall into the hands of-" "It went rogue" "But it's harmless! And you wasted a lot of valuable high-calibre ammunition to-" "Weather balloon, end of." "Ok! I see nothing wrong with that."

So you make a post about a "Battle of Los Angeles" where we supposedly fought space aliens just a few months before the movie "Battle: Los Angeles" comes out about us fighting space aliens. How much are they paying you for the viral marketing?
Are you a viral website? [editline]15th November 2010[/editline] fUkkkk ninja'd

The art for the album used to be my avatar
Just more proof that technology is wwaaaaayyy beyond what we believe it to be.
I am pretty sure if it was apparent that it was some alien object in the sky over fucking L.A, People would know about this incident as a part of UFO history, like Roswell or something. I have never heard of this before, so it's probably not important. But you never know, it could be SOMETHING other than what we know.

It seems quite awesome. first time I see the trailler.

I read that the artillery did alot of damage to the city. Im rather sure the people would know something was up when their house was suddenly under attack, Which would have brought people into the streets. And obviously many people have heard about it. Just because you havent doesnt mean its not important.
I wish I could've been there. It sounds cool. :smith:
