A MAN was allegedly pushed onto a train line by a stranger - a woman who had been seen mumbling to herself - and killed by an oncoming train.
The death at the elevated 40th Street station of the No. 7 line in Sunnyside in Queens was the second such death in New York in a month.
"This lady, she just pushed the guy on the tracks. Then she ran away. I was screaming and closing my eyes," a witness told the New York Post.
"I knew he was gonna get hit by the train. That's why I closed my eyes. I didn't want to see it."
The woman said she was one of about eight people on the platform who witnessed the tragic incident
"I could see him, and I could see a train coming. And I couldn’t do anything. I was so helpless. He was trying to get up. It was so fast," she added.
NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said that the victim did not even notice the woman who pushed her.
"She was seated alone and then waited until the train came into the station and approached this individual from behind and pushed him in front of the train," said Browne, the New York Daily News reported.
New York Times reporter Ravi Somaiya tweeted that the woman "was heavy-set, around 5"5 and in her 20s, according to police, fled and has still not been found."
On December 4, 58-year-old Ki-Suck Han, of Queens, was crushed to death by a train after being pushed onto the tracks at the 49th St and Seventh Ave station. Police later arrested Naeem Davis, 30, and charged him with second-degree murder.
Sounds like she might have been nuts or something
In before "Ban trains" - we don't need to hear that shit
This happens really disturbingly often.
Why is "man" in all caps in the first line of the article?
DUDE WHAT THE FUCK
THIS IS ONE OF MY WORST FEARS SPECIFICALLY
FUCK FUCK FUCK
god this poor guy
fucking psycho bitch
Why is "man" in all caps in the first line of the article?
A lot of weird highly definite gender pronouns in this article.
CHECK YOUR PRIVILEGE.
Why is "man" in all caps in the first line of the article?
A few news site all cap the first word of the news article, as "A" isn't a word it falls to "MAN"
fucking psycho bitch
 Oh now I get it
Mother fucker, I was in Queens yesterday, too
[editline]asdf[/editline]
I was on 42nd street, too, FUCK
I suppose they could have a system where a sensor could detect if there's any large mass on the train tracks in front of the station and automatically stop any incoming trains.
I always wondered, is there any way to avoid getting killed if you're on the tracks and a train is coming?
I mean obviously most people that get pushed onto tracks aren't going to be thinking straight but still it would be cool to know if there was a way to survive.

She pushed him RIGHT as the train was there. Way too quickly for any train to stop.
I suppose they could have a system where a sensor could detect if there's any large mass on the train tracks in front of the station and automatically stop any incoming trains.
Yes, because trains don't weight hundreds of tonnes and can stop instantly
why the fuck would you do something like this, besides the fact that you're a psycho
i can already tell there's going to be a debate about trains in this thread
why the fuck would you do something like this, besides the fact that you're a psycho
pretty sure that's the only reason
Jesus, bullshit like this is so unfair.
You live your entire life, childhood, teenager years and all that shit, just to have it all ended by some spontaneous action of some crazy fucker.
It just isnt right.
I could have sworn exactly the same thing happened a while ago. There was some journalist dude who took a picture and it got front page in the New York Times or something like that. I remember it being on a subway or something. It even happened because some crazy person pushed the guy off the platform, and I think he might have been korean or something. Am I just crazy, or what?
Human Race everyone. Devolving more every day.

Okay, so the people of Walmart will be safe but what about the rest of us?
Human Race everyone. Devolving more every day.
This is a silly post. Obviously the woman was mentally ill, why do people always complain about the human race as a whole when one bad thing happens?

Yeah, that happened.
This is up there as one of my biggest fears of all time, it's just too easy to die this way, all someone needs to do is push you. It's disturbingly simple to do to end someone's life.
How many more is it going to take untill they put up automatic railings.
even made a picture

Would that really be that difficult to do.

"A" is a word though

How exactly do you know that she was mentally ill? Plenty of people these days kill for absolutely no reason.
How exactly do you know that she was mentally ill? Plenty of people these days kill for absolutely no reason.
Rarely do they have 'absolutely no reason'
Jealousy is a big one
Debt, money, crime, revenge
And these aren't new concepts nor new motives for murder
if you think murder rates per capita are dramatically worse than they were 'in the old days' you should look again
So, (excuse the poor drawing) why don't we have anything like this yet?

It would obviously be easier for a person to dodge a train by running forward than trying to climb back onto the platform.
It wouldn't much help those who were injured by the fall, but the ones that can manage to run can at least save themselves.
This is one of my fears, but not as big as being crushed in a machine or something, because this would be a quick way to die. A machine(especially a slow one) would be hell.

Because im pretty sure in these incidents the person is pushed literally right before the train comes. practically no time to react.

It would be easier and safer to close off the area with glass and automated doors like they do in some countries.
