Boosters are one of the most passable mechanics in F2P games because all what they provide is less time required for getting X amount of Y for a price. Simply said got money but no time? Spend the money and save time.
They are thinking about adding chests which can only be opened with keys, kinda like dota 2 in a survival MMO which is just stupid.
Is this actually happening? Is a corporation actually listening to the consumer? This is blowing my mind.
They are thinking about adding chests which can only be opened with keys, kinda like dota 2 in a survival MMO which is just stupid.
If there are other ways to obtain keys for those locked chests then it could be okay. Unless those chests only contain cosmetic junk then lock them up and throw them into a river.

Dota 2 runs on a similar model and it works very well for them, I don't really see a problem with something similar for this.

Still what does those chests have inside them is a mystery for now.
The only kind of micro transaction that is 'fair' which I could see working in a survival MMO would be something like if you die, drop in $2 and instead of starting out with just a knife, you get a knife, pistol with two magazines and enough tinned food to last a few days. Just so you don't necessarily die as fast. That chest idea would be okay as long as there would be a way to obtain keys from the world.

Or having multiple character slots maybe
Is this actually happening? Is a corporation actually listening to the consumer? This is blowing my mind.
Well, the developers of the 40k TPSMMO said that their item shop items will be in fact less powerful than normal items, so I think it's just that developers are starting to realize that nobody likes shit that gives you an advantage.
If there are other ways to obtain keys for those locked chests then it could be okay. Still, if you could find the keys yourself that'd be great. Maybe have a system so that every time the map resets, have like a dozen or so chest and pair keys randomly placed around the world, and then have little notes hidden around that might be with the key and which points roughly to where the chest is hidden. Treasure hunts ahoy. Buy a one-use master key if you're a wanker.
They are thinking about adding chests which can only be opened with keys, kinda like dota 2 in a survival MMO which is just stupid.
I don't know if you guys have played Nether but they have the exact same implementation and its the most frustrating thing in the world. Imagine looking for some food and water in a survival game when you finally find a container, only to be told "Oh dear, you don't have enough keys!".
yeah ill believe it when i see it. they promised this with Planetside 2 at E3 as with cosmetics being the only thing you can buy, then they had a pay to win system that you either grind for fucking hours to unlock one gun, or pay some money and unlock it instantly.
They're going to sell hats.
I thought the title was a really sick/fucked up way of saying how easy it was to catch a new flu virus...

More like weeks. Planetside 2 is fun, but it's practically impossible to get ahead without dropping bucks on. The only good thing I can say about the unlock system is that the default weapons are very balanced, meaning getting new weapons isn't strictly necessary to be competitive.

You could find a blue T-shirt and your red T-shirt DLC could allow you to swap its skin to your liking without significantly impacting gameplay. Same could be done with weapon finishes (black instead of metallic silver guns for example) or other gear. Just because it's cosmetics doesn't mean it has to violate the art style, that's up to the devs.

It might add sort of a temptation.
I thought the title was a really sick/fucked up way of saying how easy it was to catch a new flu virus...
Cure DLC costs 50$ and is already pre-loaded onto the virus so it will not inconvenience you!!
Purely cosmetic? Do I predict a ghillie suit being in that cashshop?
Pay for cosmetic. Play for free. Recipe for master gaming race. That, and the oldskool pay once for the CD-Key THAT'S IT.
Cure DLC costs 50$ and is already pre-loaded onto the virus so it will not inconvenience you!!
As fucked up as that sounds, it doesn't seem like something pharmecutical companies wouldn't do if they could get away with it. I can just imagine the CEO and a board of directors braingstorming ideas, and the CEO going "Guys what if we made a virus with the vaccine built in, and then ch-" and everyone interrupted him at once "No, sir, we've been over this before. That's illegal." "Yeah but what if?"

The weapons will be sponsored by food companies, so it'll be a form of advertising. Gun down zombies with your Coca-Cola AK47.
Oh you won't sell guns or boosters because that would make the game suck, unlike Planetside 2 were charging $7 for one gun is totally alright and adds to the experience.

SO the chests could be ways to get commodities easily.

They said from the beginning that weapons would be buyable.
They'll probably offer weapon attachments.
game would have been shit had it been pay2win hopefully it works out
Gasmask anyone?
