Over the past month, AMD has restructured its entire product line with deep price cuts and a new GPU launch. The R9 280X and R9 290X (at $300 and $550 respectively) blew Nvidia’s price-performance ratio out of the water, with the GTX 770 stuck at $400 and the GTX 780 at $650. A response was inevitable, and this morning Nvidia let fly its own salvo. Beginning immediately, the GTX 770 takes a price cut down to $330, the GTX 780 drops to $500, and the upcoming GTX 780 Ti will launch on November 7 at $700.
What is the GTX 780 Ti, you ask? Great question. There are two possibilities. The first option is rather pedestrian — simply crank up the clocks on the GTX 780 and voila — you’ve got yourself a GTX 780 Ti. That accomplishes the first goal — create a faster GTX 780. Rumors, however, point to the idea that the GTX 780 Ti might be faster than Titan itself. The best way to make that happen is to bring some of the disabled cores back online and bring clock speeds up simultaneously.
HOORAY FOR CAPITALISM
part of me wants to go with nVidia for my next card simply due to AMD's retarded naming scheme for this series. is that bad?
fuck you I just bought a 770
seriously fuck off
omg
whyyyy
fuuuuuuuck
no more than an hour ago i was window shopping for a new gpu and was wondering where in the world nvidia's response for the 280x was, and now this happens
god i love competition
This is great, I think when I upgrade my Video card next summer this will be something to consider.
And this is why we always need competition.

There's nothing bad about wanting a nvidia card.

the market's going to be completely different by the time it's summer again
i mean it's not even winter yet, like wat

Although I am torn between companies a lot of the time because each has their own unique qualities and technology I still am glad we have the choice because it drives down prices. It would suck if any one company controlled the market.

Yes why would you pick a card over something stupid like the naming.
Wait I have one question too, why do GFX card manufacturers add cool designs/stickers onto the fan, when it's just going to be stuffed in the case never to be seen again?

Some cases have windows.

So the designs are so cool that it'll be be able to cool down the GPU even more effectively.
Because the brands are are trying to stand out among numerous, essentially identical cards and people are easily drawn in by flashy designs and names.
I hope all those people who dropped all that cash for the titans feel like shit now.
So, is it time to upgrade my 660 ti to a 770?

I'm still sitting here with a 560. Need an upgrade.. Bad..
460 GTX and I don't feel like I need an upgrade what are you people talking about? Sounds a bit spoiled to me.
Oh wow, I miss read it as $280, but that is actually the amd card name :v:
So, is it time to upgrade my 660 ti to a 770?
No you're fine, upgrade to the GTX 800's if you want, but you have a good card for 2013 games
still content with my 570 here, just wish i had some of the 6/7xx features like shadowplay. not worth buying a new card, though
So, is it time to upgrade my 660 ti to a 770?
660 ti is perfectly fine for now

Hey, I was a 780 early adopter and feel like shit. Not only did I pay £120, but I missed out on 3 sweet games.
Don't be me, kids.

Although seeing as it's been +4 months, a price cut was expected.

It'd have stung less if any games that utilized the card had come out though.
So, is it time to upgrade my 660 ti to a 770?
I upgraded from a 450 to a 660 and it was a major upgrade, mind you it I had that card for about 2 years and I only upgraded due to a fan problem, 660 should last another 2-3 years so i wouldn't worry forking out for a 770
I got a 770 from a dying 560ti, I've been happy with my perchance and haven't really looked back. A price drop was to be expected. That's the price you pay to be an early adopter. Once the 8 or 9 series comes out, it might be worth the money to get a second and put it in SLI.

get a 120hz monitor and you'll be wanting more power
This is great, exactly what I was hoping for. Now I can do my christmas upgrade!
I have a 260 still... I really need an upgrade.
Neat, but I am perfectly happy with my HD 7950. I think my friend will be happy to hear this though, his rig is pretty shit.
