A message on the school’s web site instructed staff and students to ”immediately evacuate ALL buildings and get as far away as possible.” Kxan.com reports that a man with a Middle Eastern accent called the school around 8:35 a.m. claiming to have placed bombs all over the school’s campus. The man told UT Director of Communications Rhonda Weldon he was with al-Qaeda, the news station reports. More to come.
Source: http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/09/14/get-as-far-away-as-possible-university-of-texas-at-austin-orders-immediate-evacuation-after-bomb-threat/ Source: http://www.kxan.com/dpp/news/local/austin/threat-evacuates-all-of-ut-campus Source: http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2012/09/14/university-of-texas-evacuates-buildings-citing-threats/?hpt=hp_t3 EDIT;
The University of Texas at Austin and North Dakota State University have ordered campus buildings evacuated because of bomb threats. calling total bullshit on this, lets hope i am right though
Yeah it's probably just one guy bullshitting and isn't really al-Qaeda.
But he had a middle eastern accent so he must be telling the truth!!!!!
It made CNN: http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2012/09/14/university-of-texas-evacuates-buildings-citing-threats/?hpt=hp_t3

It's most likely bullshit. Though US terror attempts have been shit at making bombs the past few years so I wouldn't be too shocked if they did find some duds in there.
"with a Middle Eastern accent" This is just so funny, immediately regarded as a threat, and if it's not that then why even include it? No stereotypes here
North Dakota State University have now also received threats and the campus' has been evacuated. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/ondeadline/post/2012/09/14/university-of-texas-emergency-threat-evacatuion/70000347/1#.UFNU9bJlSmQ
ive never understood why you would tell people theres a bomb if placed a bomb.
ive never understood why you would tell people theres a bomb if placed a bomb.
Disruption and shock can create more terror than just deaths.
Given the sterotype, if they get a bomb threat from anyone they must evacuate.
"with a Middle Eastern accent" This is just so funny, immediately regarded as a threat, and if it's not that then why even include it? No stereotypes here
at the little pad given to me by my workplace (About security) says for bomb threats When talking to the person you're supposed to take down information like "male, female, adult, juvenile", pitch of voice, slow speech, fast speech, accents, distortion, language and grammar, background noise, etc.
"with a Middle Eastern accent" This is just so funny, immediately regarded as a threat, and if it's not that then why even include it? No stereotypes here
Pretty sure when someone says they're putting bombs all over a college campus you regard it as a credible threat no matter what their accent is
immediately evacuate ALL buildings and get as far away as possible.
Oh well, time to buy a plane ticket to somewhere at the other half of the world! :v:
A group of kids did this back when I was in middle school and netted us a free three day weekend. I call bullshit.
Guys, these people must be stupid. There's a reason that declassified Soviet documents detailed specifically that in the event of the invasion of America, NOT to land troops in Texas.
I hope this is bullshit, I live right near the University of Texas.
