Man that has not aged well...
Keep in mind that it's been 10 years since the release of San Andreas.

The map in SA feels just so empty when looking back at it.
The map in SA feels just so empty when looking back at it.
Remember the days when it was considered one of the most advanced sandbox games possible at the time? 2004 was hell of a year with San Andreas, Halo 2, Half-Life 2...
Remember the days when it was considered one of the most advanced sandbox games possible at the time? 2004 was hell of a year with San Andreas, Halo 2, Half-Life 2...
San Andreas was already outdated graphically when it came out. It just had a lot of content.
San Andreas was already outdated graphically when it came out. It just had a lot of content.
It was ugly as hell, yeah, but some people I knew in school at the time just went, "OH MAN IT'S STYLISTIC." v:v:v
Ugh, I hate you must watch on youtube shit. Time to find a plugin for that.
San Andreas is a joke compared to what GTA 5 is today
Man that has not aged well...
I always thought SA looked worser than Vice City. I still don't quite know if it does or not... it just never really looked too great to me.
I always thought SA looked worser than Vice City. I still don't quite know if it does or not... it just never really looked too great to me.
Vice City just had a very distinct style. Miami in the '90s... San Andreas fit Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco in itself and in result, it had a much less defined art direction.
woah those jellyfish looked so stylish
I always thought SA looked worser than Vice City. I still don't quite know if it does or not... it just never really looked too great to me.
Style plays a bigger role of this than anything else
Style plays a bigger role of this than anything else
GTAIII looks better than SA because of it's style imo EDIT: Wait, I was thinking of the iOS version of GTAIII. Yeah SA looks better.
Remember the days when it was considered one of the most advanced sandbox games possible at the time? 2004 was hell of a year with San Andreas, Halo 2, Half-Life 2...
When I was a kid I thought it was so life like, I kept saying "man they're never going to top this" oh boy
Man that has not aged well...
I highly disagree. I think Rockstar put so much effort into that game that even ten years on it could still put the games released today to shame. Simply because they made a game that people would love to play, not a game that lures you then takes your cash and fucks off.

now I can just play it on my phone jesus christ

That image you used for HL2 isn't from in-game, it's a remake in another engine to demonstrate what it could of looked like if it was released nowadays. Also I wouldn't say Smash Brothers Brawl or any Nintendo game could be used for a comparison
half life 2 released the same year as gtasa though? what a dumb comparison
That image you used for HL2 isn't from in-game, it's a remake in another engine to demonstrate what it could of looked like if it was released nowadays. Also I wouldn't say Smash Brothers Brawl or any Nintendo game could be used for a comparison
I intended to do that. Look at hl2 vs hl2 on todays engine. It's pretty obvious that isn't actually HL2, but, that's the point. even 2004's best game is pretty far from today. hell, it even won game of the decade. So I really doubt GTA sa could give todays games a run for a money, since the newer Saints Row / watch dogs and even GTA 4/5 blows it out of the water. Hell, even Smash brothers is more detailed graphically than GTA SA. that and I'm being as broad as I can with genre's, Graphics aren't the only thing that improved after all. Most games today will 'play' better than games in the past. GTA SA, Morrowind, and even the 20 year old doom were steller for their time but todays games are just better. (Generally, 90's FPS's are still pretty amazing, but still)
half life 2 released the same year as gtasa though? what a dumb comparison
except that isn't... half life 2? what are you trying to say?
I never spent so many hours in GTA 4 or 5 combined than I did in SA. Goddamn, I know the map better than my own city. GTA or mostly SA is a big part of my life.
gta SA -screenies- games that are "Being put to shame" [t]http://static.gamespot.com/uploads/original/1493/14930800/2496162-hl2+udk+1.jpg[/t] I don't know what dimension you're living in but it must be one where we're still using the original xbox and ps2 that and new games just play better it was great for its time
Sort of off topic, but did you even look at the URL for that Half Life render? http://static.gamespot.com/uploads/original/1493/14930800/2496162-hl2+udk+1.jpg It's not a HL2 screenshot, it's a recreation in a completely different engine.
Just goes to show how far we've come.
Sort of off topic, but did you even look at the URL for that Half Life render?
Man that has not aged well...
San Andreas looked outdated graphically in the year it got released but no one gave a shit the game has gameplay for hours. GTA IV blew everyone away anyway
I still put GTA:SA over many modern AAA titles. Graphics is the last thing that matters to me.
