Explain to me how baby Jesus is a symbol of the oppressive patriarchy.
Because FEMEN is formed of mostly backward thinking bigots.
Even if some of their shit is justified, they make up the other 95% of their protests as measures of provocative action just trying to get pissy and angsty about past issues. None of their activities seem to be based on modern day issues.
Should've spiked Jesus and done a TD dance.

it's not, what they're trying to do is piss off the vatican, which is the oppressive patriarchy.
this is literally all FEMEN do, piss off conservatives & religious authorities. people are still surprised they'd do something like this?

And instead they piss off everyone who wants to celebrate christmas. Good job.
i'm really angry right now!
Is that guy at 0:15 using an iPhone 3G? wow
But yeah, FEMEN is the shittiest type of feminist. Instead of reasonable protest they just go full kamikaze into the middle of whatever they don't like, topless and screaming.
And instead they piss off everyone who wants to celebrate christmas. Good job.
i'm just telling you why they do things like this, if you wanna oblige them and get angry at dumb shit instead of you know, celebrating christmas, be my guest!
And instead they piss off everyone who wants to celebrate christmas. Good job.
I love Christmas but I think FEMEN's activism is perfect. It's entirely victimless and brings them a lot of attention.
I love Christmas but I think FEMEN's activism is perfect. It's entirely victimless and brings them a lot of attention.
Disrupting public activity isn't victimless.
FEMEN is just paid shills mixed with some genuine idiots. I'm sure someone out there would do the dumb shit they do if you got paid for it too.
FEMEN is the worst kind of feminist. They discredit rational feminists who actually make a real difference in the lives of women.
FEMEN is a joke.

Agree x 1
Dr. Gestapo
I knew this guy was a lunatic, but now this? hoh boy
I love how there's a police officer wearing a fucking cloak right there when it happens.
Those cops got some sweet looking uniforms.
A lot of FEMEN's activists are hired escorts and drug addicts.
I have a hard time listening to anyone who thinks FEMEN is a good thing, considering its turned into a soft harem run by this dude:

Only gradually did she become aware that Mr Svyatski was pulling the strings behind the scenes. “Once I was in the inner circle, you can’t not know him. He is Femen.”
Initially, Mr Svyatski refused to allow Ms Green to film him but she was determined that he should feature. “It was a big moral thing for me because I realised how this organisation was run. He was quite horrible with the girls. He would scream at them and call them bitches.”
When the Femen founder finally spoke to Ms Green, he sought to justify his role within the organisation and acknowledged the paradox of being a “patriarch” running a feminist protest group. “These girls are weak,” he says in the film.
“They don’t have the strength of character. They don’t even have the desire to be strong. Instead, they show submissiveness, spinelessness, lack of punctuality, and many other factors which prevent them from becoming political activists. These are qualities which it was essential to teach them.”
Mr Svyatski insists to Ms Green that his influence on the group is positive. However, when he is asked directly whether he started Femen “to get girls”, he replies: “Perhaps yes, somewhere in my deep subconscious.”
One of the Femen campaigners talks of the relationship between the women and the movement’s founder as being akin to “Stockholm syndrome”, in which hostages feel sympathy for their captors.
“We are psychologically dependent on him and even if we know and understand that we could do this by ourselves without his help, it’s psychological dependence,” she says.

basically its the same tactics a pimp uses
dishing out equal amounts of father figure and psychological abuse to create a hook and keep them psychologically dependent.

Cursory research shows that FEMEN gave him the boot afterwards and as far as I can tell it's true, he is no longer involved with the group.

By victimless I mean not a victim of violence or assault. I think we can all agree that no one was seriously injured by a woman snatching a fake baby out of a manger.

I think he left of his own accord after that beating he got?
supposedly by random assailants, but iirc it was strongly alleged they were security forces
Explain to me how baby Jesus is a symbol of the oppressive patriarchy.
To be fair, the Catholic church is about as oppressive a patriarchy as it gets.
At least they're not, you know, desecrating a priceless historical site in Peru or something. This is just funny.

The reason he gave was because he was assaulted by what he suspected to be security forces because he was convinced Ukraine was practically a Russian proxy and Russia isn't too keen on public demonstrations in the vein of FEMEN, especially when they target churches as they do.
He probably gave this reason because he didn't want to say "Yeah I was making the movement look bad with my shitty attitude and policies". Something to keep in mind about that Ukraine is Not a Brothel documentary (I've seen it) is that at several parts it's actually sympathetic to FEMEN's causes and describes just how bad women's rights in Ukraine really are. The objective of targeting Victor wasn't to bring down FEMEN but to shine a spotlight on the bad apple. Which worked apparently.

Didn't FEMEN have a jewish investor supporting them financially until they decided to go to Israel?

By FEMEN. It's making fun of the fact that a popular conspiracy theory is that George Soros personally funds everything vaguely leftist.

I wouldn't consider spraying bystanders with fire extinguishers a victimless protest by any extent.
Femen's entire course of action is for all means and purposes the exact same as the WBC. They show up uninvited, start stirring shit up with idiotic and pointlessly provocative messages, then act surprised and offended when they get curbstomped by angry bystanders. They also tried to sue several people when they got hurt (getting tackled right to the pavement by a policeman while bare chested because you wouldn't stop will likely leave a few marks, who knew), which I don't think went anywhere because they were the ones breaking the law.
