So I was assigned to create an advert for any product of my choice in my media course, I decided to choose Gmod.
New version Sound is pretty screwed up at one point, plus I need to change the music.

Old version

To complete the assignment I will need some feedback. I have made a questionnaire and I would be incredibly grateful if you could fill it out for me.
Leave stuff blank if you unsure of the question, and please message me the results to keep this thread clean.

Thanks if your filling it in, it will help alot in my final grade.
That was really good. But what does it have to do with Gmod?
That was really good. But what does it have to do with Gmod?
This.
Although, if there was a game based on what that video showed, I'd play it.
I really liked the animation work you put into it. But as Noz said, the connection between Gmod and the advert would not be very apparent to someone who hasn't ever heard of Gmod.
I came into this thread expecting a stupid mashup of unfitting gameplay in advertisement form. Thankfully, that wasn't the case.
Overall, you made a pretty kickass video.
The text under the logo at the end shouldn't be Arial Black.
That was good, but why are you using a Packard-Bell machine?
Age: 12, no lie.
What are your thoughts on the video?: It's really neat; you must have put a lot of time into it.
Did you feel it communicated the basic idea of Garrysmod well?: Well, I think you should have shown some actual gameplay footage to compare what the clay models are doing to what you can do in the game.
Did you feel it will appeal to those that would be interested in Gmod?: It depends. They must have quite a bit of knowledge on the game to actually understand what the game has to do with what the models are doing.
If you didn’t own Gmod (or don’t) would you feel more willing to buy it after watching this?: It just depends on the person. If the person knew in general what gmod was, this could probably help them get a better idea. If a person had never heard of gmod before, however, they may be a bit confused about clay models doing random things.
If you haven’t already could you describe why you would or wouldn’t with the question above?: It wouldn't convince me to buy the game because it doesn't show me any footage of the actual game. I'm the type of person who wants to get a good feel of a game or whatever before buying it.
Although it is a really cool video and idea, it seems a lot like an E3 teaser trailer where they want to hint at what you will be able to do in the game without actually showing you. But since gmod is already released, it should at least include some gameplay footage to tell the viewer more about what gmod is and why you would want to buy it.
But overall, really cool video, but their is room for a lot of improvements. Try showing it to someone in person who doesn't know what gmod is and ask them these questions.
And it kinda seemed like Pikmin. ;)
I was trying to go beyond just showing footage of the game as I think Garry’s mod is more then just about graphics and game play, which most advertisers would focus on for other games.
I wanted the audience to relate the name and symbol to ideas such as creativity and imagination rather then some in-game play through. In other words I wanted it to stand out.
And cheers Tanktan.
You should include some videos of stuff you do, some people might think it causes small clay figures to come out of your screen and build stuff for you. :keke:

You're welcome. You just need to show a tiny tiny bit of gameplay footage. Not like the entire video. Just keep what you have and stick in a few 2-3 second clips of what the action of the clay models look like in the game after the clay models do it.
15.
I thought it was great, it keeps the viewer fairly interested, and the fantasy actions keep the perspective buyer's animation flowing.
I think it needs to focus on the idea that it's a game a bit more.
Maybe, but otherwise, it serves more as a hook for searching the site.
(see above)
Also, the ending splash where it shows the Garry's Mod overlay would've worked better as a fade-in slide. Otherwise, bloody amazing.

You're right, OP should use Comic Sans instead.

I think if you'd done a bit of both, it would have helped relay the message.
The original idea was to have gameplay footage playing on the screen but there were complications in editing.
And yeah I had trouble with the font, didn't really have the time to search for it. This needs to be in for wednesday.

Well then you've got time to alter a few things.

It really is good work, it just doesn't convey the message well for me, as others have said.

How old are you?: 11
What are your thoughts on the video?: Was great
Did you feel it communicated the basic idea of Garrysmod well?: Yes
Did you feel it will appeal to those that would be interested in Gmod? Well, yeah, because the concept of this video made me think of fortwars
If you didn’t own Gmod (or don’t) would you feel more willing to buy it after watching this?: Yes
If you haven’t already could you describe why you would or wouldn’t with the question above?: Because, this video made me thought of building contraptions
Anything you disliked about the video?: None
Anything you feel needs to be improved?: Nothing
Thank you very much for your time and effort, I really appreciate it.
No problem

That was terrible IMO, I didn't get Gmod from it at all.
It went from a good start to a terrible claymation music video, seriously. If you're going to try to make an ad for something especially a game, try actually showing it. Redo that shit, but do it in-game.
oh wow that totally explained what garry's mod is
How old are you?: 15
What are your thoughts on the video?: Good, but hated the music. It hurt.
Did you feel it communicated the basic idea of Garrysmod well?: Yes. It may be confusing to people who have no idea what the game is about though. If it were a real advertisement you should have included clips from the game.
Did you feel it will appeal to those that would be interested in Gmod?: If they understand it.
If you didn’t own Gmod (or don’t) would you feel more willing to buy it after watching this?: Again, if I understood it. So probably.
If you haven’t already could you describe why you would or wouldn’t with the question above?: I'm pretty sure watching this would not make me not want to buy it.
Anything you disliked about the video?: The screeching music.
Anything you feel needs to be improved?: Better music, maybe some gameplay clips.
music kills it
I really did like the concept of it. I see what you're doing there, Garry's Mod is something for you to let your imagination loose with. So the Claymation part should stay, it's very well done, but as it has been said many times in the thread, throw in some actual gameplay.
Maybe do kind of a catch phrase or something at the end while you're at it.
I didn't get a Gmod vibe from this at all. Good production values but that's it really.
That was really good, although like it's been previously stated it doesn't seem to fit right with the modelling clay men. I got the message though.
Still if you want, maybe you could camera track some gameplay in replacement of the modelling clay? If you're good with that kind of thing anyways, still I would give you an A+++.

What are your thoughts on the video?:
Interesting, but the music was distorted and the basis of the game was vague. No footage of it was shown.
Did you feel it communicated the basic idea of Garrysmod well?:
No. I'm sorry to say.
Did you feel it will appeal to those that would be interested in Gmod?
See above.
If you didn’t own Gmod (or don’t) would you feel more willing to buy it after watching this?:
I'd look into it, just out of not understanding the commercial.
If you haven’t already could you describe why you would or wouldn’t with the question above?:
[I already have.]
Anything you disliked about the video?:
The point, it is really undefined.
Anything you feel needs to be improved?:
You need footage of the game. Or maybe an explanation. This video really didn't get a point across. The claymation was interesting, but people won't connect that with the game.
I don't wish to be cynical or mean, it's just what came to mind.
I'd fill out your questionnaire if this was a serious attempt at a commercial but this is just some stop motion clay stuff.
The claymation was boring and generic and as said before had nothing to do with GMod. An advertisement of GMod should be a person walking down the sidewalk with a tool gun that he built in his basement one night changing things around and building stuff out of scraps. Then after the real life segment it should switch to the in-game equivalent to truly show people what the game is about and get them hooked. I'm guessing you don't have the video editing skills to do that, seeing how you choose stop motion as your primary means of CGI, so you should've done something in-game, perhaps showing the transition from a FPS battle to a free for all building session.
And dude, where the hell did you find that music? It is music right?
If i had never played Garry's mod and watched that, i'd have no idea what it was about. Without some sort of gameplay or atleast saying what you can do it makes it seem like it's about Clay men stealing things.
How old are you?: I'm 17 years old
What are your thoughts on the video?: Interesting, but still vague. because, I I would not know what Garry'sMod was, then I still wouldn't know it after watching the video.

Did you feel it communicated the basic idea of Garrysmod well?: It was clear enough that it was about creativity and creating something.
Did you feel it will appeal to those that would be interested in Gmod? No. The viewer might know it is something for your PC, but he would still never know the possibilities of the game (in case he does know it is about a game).
If you didn’t own Gmod (or don’t) would you feel more willing to buy it after watching this?:
If I did not know what Gmod was: I might google it and then buy it.
If I did know what Gmod was: I would have bought it already before watching the video if I wanted the game. So: no.
Anything you disliked about the video?: As described before, I still wouldn't know for sure if it might be a game. And I still wouldn't know what the game really was about and what you could do.
Anything you feel needs to be improved?: Maybe a small line of text at the end of the video (at the logo and such).
Thank you very much for your time and effort, I really appreciate it.
You're welcome. Good luck with it!
How old are you?: 16
What are your thoughts on the video?: Good concept, mediocre execution. Bad music choice imo, it doesn't get the feeling across well enough and feels like someone's trying to dance in front of me while I watch an opera.
Did you feel it communicated the basic idea of Garrysmod well?: Very little, to be honest. It shows a team of clay men accomplishing tasks and doesn't tell me enough about the capabilities of Garry's mod. If it were taken at face value, I would've assumed it was an advert for something otherwise.
Did you feel it will appeal to those that would be interested in Gmod? I don't believe it will, as the only thing that directly corresponded with the Garry's Mod theme was the logo and the setting(at the computer). I learned nigh nothing just from watching this video, and I'm not saying this just to make you feel bad.
If you didn’t own Gmod (or don’t) would you feel more willing to buy it after watching this?: As stated before, I don't think anyone would learn anything of advertisement value from this video, and would have no interest in buying it. It'd be as if someone was presenting you an advertisement for a movie and decided to have a video of a bunch of people rocking out instead. Yes, they're both amusing but it's not going to effect you as soon as the video is over. That's the effect advertisements seek to achieve, to convince the customer that this is what it's all about, and why you should buy it. In an artistic manner, however, the video was incredibly creative. But I don't believe that's the project you were assigned.
If you haven’t already could you describe why you would or wouldn’t with the question above?: Said it already. Anything you disliked about the video?: Anything you feel needs to be improved?:
Last 2 questions, as stated before, video needs to have a makeover if it wants to fit my bill.
I'm not purposely trying to be an asshole or a dick that tears away all structure and form of someone's creation and then wails on it without even considering the author's feelings. No, I've done projects before and have been mercilessly criticized on them. It is really the best way to learn though.
'course you never really have to take my opinion, since that's just what it is, an opinion. Good efforts on the OP though :golfclap:
Is it me or is FP full of underage teenagers?
