I think it could be a genuinely fun thing. Slaps are louder than they are painful imo, it's just they usually catch you off-guard so it's way more painful and surprising. So if you know you're gonna get slapped, and that you're gonna slap the other person, and you're literally having a conversation about slapping one another, it completely changes the whole dynamic to the point where it's funny, a little surreal, and sort of intimate, like Landis says in the behind-the-scenes thing.
He was tweeting about it a couple of days where he went a bit more into detail about it and his thoughts and theories about it and stuff, and I would go back and try and find them all, but it's 6:23AM over here and I haven't slept yet so

This one specifically is a parody of an advertisement that claimed it was a bunch of random people kissing for the first time but it was actually actors. Both of these were filmed in the same way, black and white with a low volume female vocalist in the background. Also, these people are paid actors too, I'd bet.
I don't know if it was what the creators intended (or what it says about me), but to me the hits in this video felt much more genuine than the kisses in the other. Framing violence (I know the word sounds harsh but I don't know what other word to use) as a bonding experience is something that's rarely done in media.
I liked this video, I found it refreshingly different. It wasn't some cynical advertisement or statement about domestic violence, it was just some people having fun in a way you don't normally see because it's not socially acceptable.
Does he have a wardrobe full of hipster clothes he gives to people featured in his videos or is everyone he knows really that hip?
