Paint Shop Pro 9 - Applying a Colour/Grain to a White Door
4 replies, posted
Hi,
Before you tell me I should use Photoshop, please don't. I'm used to Paint Shop Pro, it's what I've always used.
Anyway. Does anyone have any tips for applying a grain and/or colour to an image of a White door. I've found a method that works pretty well, but I just wanted to see if there is a better way of doing it. I know the grain doesn't tile very well, I am waiting for larger resolution grain images.

I also use PaintShopPro, it's all I ever use.
Here's how I've done wood grain. I made this .PSD for you so you can mess around with it however you like. PSP can open .PSD files.

The wood grain texture I used(tile-able)

Basically I just made a greyscaled layer of the door and then used Clarify(up it to 100% strength). Afterwards I just used a tile-able wood grain texture that I googled and set the blend mode to Multiply. I did a little editing at the end so to make it look a little better. You can see how everything was done by just checking out the .PSD and seeing how I did the layering. I hope this helps you.
Wow, thank you. You did a better job than me in keeping the details on the door. I can't seem to find Clarify, I'm using PSP9.
I don't remember where it is in PSP9 but this is where it's at on X2.
