Rome - Dramatic images document the agony of a Neapolitan mastiff that died of suffocation after being caught and tied with a rope in the San Basilio suburb of Rome. The animal had been tied by the police after he assaulted a pensioner aged 68, hospitalized in serious condition in hospital "Sandro Pertini".
Can't find any other source. Saw this earlier on Live Leak, so terrible. Just read the description, I didn't even watch the video. I was like fuck that.
That's weird that they just left him there to die after catching him.
It's intolerable trying to see the dog save itself but it can't. Fuuuuuuuuck.
That's weird that they just left him there to die after catching him.
It jumped the fence and got itself killed. No one wanted to help because the dog had been biting people earlier. It would have been better if someone simply put it down quick but frankly I don't blame anyone for leaving it alone.

[editline]11th September 2013[/editline] I also had the sound muted when I watched the video, so if I'm missing information in my ignorance I apologize.
They were speaking Russian(?) in the video.
Yeah, police in Rome primarily speaks Russian. Common knowledge. [editline]11th September 2013[/editline] Oh, nevermind, I see it. ""
apparently it's okay for dogs to maul the elderly and facepunch doesn't bat an eye.
At the end of the video the guy dressed in white said to the policeman "He's dead, you let him die. I told you this dog knew me(?)." Probably the guy in white was the owner or a friend of the owner. Still, this is just fucking disgusting.
Maybe shouldn't have bit the pensioner.
Yeah they should have just shot the dog if it was attacking people instead of letting it strangle to death at least. Pretty cruel watching it die slowly and hearing it whimper as it slowly suffocates loosing its will to live.
i'm not entirely sure how to feel about this looks like the dog's death could have definitely been avoided by lengthening the rope just a little but then again, if a dog is jumping over fences and attacking people, it's probably better for the community to put it down, but dang i wish it was more humane. wait a minute i just now saw that the rope was tied to the tree on the other side. I thought it was tied to the top of the fence (?)
I think you're all a bit confused as to what happened, the rope was plenty long enough, probably too long in fact. It was also never meant to be killed, the police tied it to a tree harmlessly, it jumped over a fence which tightened the rope then the dog struggled and made it worse.
I don't get it, the dog obviously stands up and the rope is then long enough for it to breathe. How stupid do you have to be to then move from that position and start choking again? Considering it attacked a pensioner, then jumped a fence which got it into that situation in the first place, it had to have some issues in the head before then.

It's a dog. Why get so upset over such a horrible creature? [editline]11th September 2013[/editline]
That's weird that they just left him there to die after catching him.
The dog just violently attacked an old woman. Would you risk your self to make sure it's doing ok?
There is such a thing as a "vet" or a trainer to help turn violent dogs from those ways, you don't have to kill him.
What's the point of spending all that time on a dog?
What's the point of spending all that time on a dog?
It breathes the same air as you, it has a life of it's own. You can't judge one dog and base that exact opinion on every other creature with 4 legs.

Sad but I'd not have helped the dog either if I knew what happened before. Once a dog really attacks humans then they are very unpredictable and it could have bitten if anyone wanted to help it.

If we're gonna think like that, then we humans are pretty fucking horrible.
What's the point of spending all that time on a dog?
wow somebody must have a really bad experience with dogs or maybe you're just an shit person in general
If a dog had attacked someone earlier that day then I can understand why people wouldn't want to get within arm's reach of the thing.

I have 2 small dogs, y'know the kind the shitty yappy ones. They managed to climb over one of the fences in our backyard that's roughly 8ft high. The fuckers are good at climbing.
Dog would rather die before jail.
I've had a dog that had known me well for 8 years of his life, brought him to the beach in the back of a pickup and he jumped out the back of the truck as soon as we stopped, problem was that he was tied in and barely made it over the edge, and nearly hung himself, when I tried to help him out the first time he bit me brutally across my arm but the second time I was able to remove his collar. Six stitches and my dog had to get checked up at the vet. Moral of the story, dogs don't think right when they're in trouble and can't tell if you're actually helping them or not.
Personal experience, tied dogs are dumbasses when it comes to getting caught on fences. Or running around a tree until they essentially chain themselves to it.
