Iron Dome is a metal as fuck (no pun intended) name for a defense system. It sounds like something out of an Ace Combat game.
This at least goes some of the way to explain why so many more Palestinians than Israelis died. The Palestinians have nowhere to hide other than rather flimsy housing, while the Israelis have air raid shelters and missile defense systems. That matters a lot when both sides are firing more or less with disregard for civilian casualties.

Hamas has actually fired of an insanely large amount of missiles compared to Israel as well, which really shows how well Iron Dome works.
I'm just amazed at how relaxed the dudes in the video seem, they know they've got quite the threat above them, and they could potentially die, but they also know they have the finest piece of anti-missile technology watching their backs. a 90-95% success rate is unprecedented
All Hamas has are cold war era artillery rockets, so it's a slaughter when Israel bombs the Gaza strip relentlessly and in the end thousands of civilians died in Gaza and 100+ Israelis soldiers died, in the end everything was for nothing :l

I think you see that in a lot of wartime cities. I believe London was similar at times during WWII. At the end of the day you do come to accept the fact that being alive in a place like this at a time like this carries a certain amount of risk and sitting down and giving up on your daily life and routines isn't going to accomplish anything.
That being said, I'd probably be terrified out of my wits for the first long while

no, but the iron dome is a stepping stone for more advanced anti-ballistic missile systems

No, they're specifically designed to be cheaper than the already existing patriot system, since quassam rockets don't take as much force to destroy as a school-bus sized missile.
The anti-ballistic missile system they have is the Arrow System and the Green pine radar systems. Hasn't been really used before except for some tests to see if it would fire correctly.
