The people who got the Vita really wanted the games for it. Its not surprising the software is selling well.
It's their own fault for forcing all the proprietary bullshit on it. Fuck off, I'm not paying double the price for a memory card because you said so. They could have avoided a lot of shit.
I have a Vita. It's fucking awesome. Like I can play my PS3/4 games anywhere in the house. Thats cool as fuck.
It's kind of a shame the Vita doesn't get as much support as it deserves; it's a fantastic piece of hardware.
It's kind of a shame the Vita doesn't get as much support as it deserves; it's a fantastic piece of hardware.
It is lacking support from big studios, but Sony is pushing many Indie games on the platform. Lone Survivor, Terraria, Spelunky, Limbo, Guacamelee and Hotline Miami are out to name a few, Starbound, Binding of Issac: Rebirth, Rouge Legacy, Frozen Synapse, Minecraft, Alpha Light Drifter. Hotline Miami 2 and Mighty No. 9 are also coming. Really if you like Indies Vita is not lacking games.

I would jump instantly on the Vita if it grew a homebrew scene and support for all the emulatey goodness that the PSP offered.
Next year looks like it'll be solid for the Vita. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=738943 Most of the games on that list that look interesting (at least to me) are on the Vita side.
It's kind of a shame the Vita doesn't get as much support as it deserves; it's a fantastic piece of hardware.
Sony itself is showing a lot of support for it this time around. They just need more people developing for it.
That list is to much jrpg's, to little else. Here is a different list http://www.reddit.com/r/vita/wiki/games/releases/dates/fullna

After CFW became easy the PSP pretty much lost all support outside Japan because companies were afraid of piracy.
For the most part I only play Hotline Miami and Persona 4: The Golden on my vita, good to see we will get more shit next year, 2013 pretty much had nothing worth playing besides maybe Soul Sacrifice
Killzone Mercenary Spelunky Terraria Tearaway Just to name a few
Mercenary pisses me off because it crashes occasionally and when it does it is at a really bad time
Mercenary pisses me off because it crashes occasionally and when it does it is at a really bad time
Did you download the lastest patch? I haven't experienced a single crash, I might just be lucky.
Killzone Mercenary Spelunky Terraria Tearaway Just to name a few
Also Rayman Legends since the best version is the Vita one.
Im writing this post on my ps vita btw, it's not true there are no hacks for vita, it can run psp homebrew just well
Did you download the lastest patch? I'm interested to see how well next year will go for the vita. I mean I hope the borderlands 2 game is really successful and lives up to the experience on the consoles because that would show how powerful the vita can be. Iirc porting games from the ps3 to the vita wasn't all that hard either as Dungeon Defender took epic something like 2 weeks to do the entire game. Let's not forget the Final Fantasy 10 remakes either.
It's kind of a shame the Vita doesn't get as much support as it deserves; it's a fantastic piece of hardware.
Its getting a lot more than you think Vita sales have shot up 68% or so since the PS4 launch, and people are actually playing a good bit of games on it right now thanks in large part due to the huge indie gaming presence the handheld currently holds. The problem with this chart is that its only showing PS Vita Knockoff Exclusives that have a direct link to a game on the PSP, and its completing ignoring STRONG exclusives like Tearaway and the HUGE amount of buyer support the console has for indie game ports. Jim Sterling (of Dtoid and Escapist fame) for example just tweeted today how he's been playing his vita a shit load recently thanks to spelunky and terraria - games that by design end up being excellent portable games to play on the go. My BF after having a 3DS for a while really wants a vita for the same reasons, in addition to stuff like crossplay between PS4/PSVita titles like Dragons Crown. There's a lot of strong stuff for the vita now that makes it really compelling and sales have increased because of it. The problem is, the "cash in exclusive titles based on X franchise" are largely not the biggest contributor to the vita as everyone is expecting it to be.
I have a Vita. It's fucking awesome. Like I can play my PS3/4 games anywhere in the house. Thats cool as fuck.
it functions better as a wiiu gamepad for playstations than as a portable gaming console hell you can play PS4 games anywhere if you've got decent mobile internet
The Vita doing really poorly is mostly sensationalism.. Its pretty good and it's got some great exclusives.. Killzone Mercenary is jaw dropping.
Also, keep in mind the Vita is big in Japan, we just don't get much of the translated goodness because of the "poor sales".
Also, keep in mind the Vita is big in Japan, we just don't get much of the translated goodness because of the "poor sales".
Yeah, but "Big in Japan" becomes irrelevant the moment one steps off of Japanese soil. Pachinko, as dumb as it is, is big in Japan. Not so much anywhere else. Billy Herrington, erm, is big in Japan. Everywhere else he's just known as "That one guy in a lot of gay pornos" Anime, of course, is big in Japan (Not as big as some idiotas want to think, but still), and well sorta there's some similar-ish stuff in Korea and China, but its not exactly a "thing" outside of Japan. Now, I use my Vita pretty much daily, but "Big in Japan" is not a phrase that can be used to call for Western support. There's a big cultural divide between why it's big there and niche elsewhere. [editline]27th December 2013[/editline] I'll give you one guess as to why there has yet to be (and likely never will be) an Xbox Portable while Nintendo and Sony are so fierce on the Portable scene.
PSVita is my favourite handheld
I bought a PS Vita after I got my PS4 (mostly for the remote play). Holy fuck am I disappointed in it. I've really tried to enjoy it, but I just can't find any games which appeal to me. And a qHD screen is just meh.
The PSVita is built much better than the 3DS. Comfortable, big screen, honestly I think its the best built handheld ever made. Its a shame its not getting the attention it deserves.
The proprietary memory card was the one thing that made me and many of my friends pass on the ps vita like 2 years ago. If it used microsd cards then it would have been the best thing ever. I can get 32gb microsd cards class 10 Sandisk ultras for $30 or a lexar class 10 64gb for $40. It would have been such an awesome mobile video player too but the proprietary card just makes it hard to buy into. One valid reason on having the proprietary card was to avoid people being mad that their $1 32gb microsd card died with their files and photos. Not saying the ps vita cards were immune to such problems but it would happen less with the ps vita cards.

I haven't touched my Vita in like 3 months. There are some nice games for it but I've exhausted all of the truly original content. With games like Killzone, why don't I just go play Battlefield or something else? I never really play games when I'm out and about so it was sort of a wasted purchase. It's nice, but I'm just gonna sell it and invest in something else.
