Well is was inevitable, the Star Wars Saga is coming back in 3D.
George Lucas watched the massive success of “Avatar” and “Alice in Wonderland” in the 3-D format and decided it was time for a return of the Jedi. “Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace” will return to theaters in 3-D in 2012 and will be followed in the stereoscopic format by the five other live-action movies set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Lucas’ Industrial Light & Magic special-effects shop is overseeing the 3-D conversion. 20th Century Fox will release them, as it has done for all previous “Star Wars” films. Lucas has said publicly on more than one occasion that the technological strides of James Cameron’s “Avatar” persuaded him to reconsider his longtime disdain for 3-D. After the Golden Globes, for instance, he told Access Hollywood that he was investigating the possibilities of converting his Skywalker family epic into the trendy format. “Haven’t been a big fan of 3-D, but that movie definitely improves in [the field of] 3-D … we’ve been looking for years and years and years of trying to take ‘Star Wars’ and put it in 3-D,” Lucas explained to “Access.” “But, [the] technology hasn’t been there. We’ve been struggling with it, but I think this will be a new impetus to make that happen.”
http://herocomplex.latimes.com/2010/09/28/star-wars-saga-in-3d-will-start-in-theaters-in-2012/ It's even on the Star Wars website. http://starwars.com/movies/saga/announce3d/index.html The Saga will re-release from 2012-2017, so 5 years of watching and waiting out the Saga. In my opinion, it didn't have to be done.
I think it's cool. Seeing the original Star Wars in theater. 3D is cool, don't mind it
You've got to be fucking kidding me...
It would be even greater if they included deleted scenes. Also, this is old news.
Don't know if I should be excited or not for this.
I don't see why not. If you like the movies, the addition of 3D doesn't hurt.
I don't mind that its being released again, its the fact that it is including the 3D fad. I just needs to stop.
At least it's the shit saga that George Lucas can ruin again.
Honestly, I'll shell out money to see the original trilogy in a real theater with no hesitation whatsoever. I hate myself for not being alive to see the original run.

enough with the 3D shit
Question, how do you make something 3D that wasn't filmed for 3D?
magic
Needs to milk more money out of the series!
Stupid, but I'll go see it.
Will they be shown in non-3D? I'd love to see all the Star Wars movies on the big screen again, but I don't care for 3D.
I don't even have a 3D theatre near me.. but I'd fucking love to see all the Star Wars films again in theatres. That would be awesome.
Episode 1? Now it can suck in a whole extra dimension.
I would like to watch them in 3D. I mean it might be entertaining.
Question, how do you make something 3D that wasn't filmed for 3D?
some kind of conversion process. what's good is that it's not coming out for several years, meaning the conversion will be done well (like Piranha3D) and not shitty (like Clash of the Titans).
I'd prefer seeing the original trilogy in 3D, and maybe Episode 3.
Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.
Sums up my reaction, until now I didn't need 3D to enjoy Starwars. Sad thing is I needed it to enjoy Avatar.
maybe i'd be impressed it was 4-D
why doesn't george move on and make something new? he already made the prequil's when prequil's started to suck does he really need to re-release the star wars saga just for 3d?
meh seeing as 90% of the film was cgi i guess i can understand how i just can't understand why
Question, how do you make something 3D that wasn't filmed for 3D?
I was going to say that. Unless they are planning on... I have no clue how they plan to do that.
i'm still waiting on the blu ray re-release of the original saga lucas doesnt do anything right
I hate George Lucas, he says its too hard to restore the original editions for Blu-Ray, but he is going to spend a shit load of money to convert 6 fucking movies to 3D.
This is the most appropriate time to post this: Just let the saga die George.
I think that confirmed it is OK to walk down the street with 3-D glasses on.
