Trolls :( I'm just seeking knowledge. I bet you once didn't know either \= ) I'm quite newish to weed and have Smoked it about 15 times now and plan on continuing to smoke it atleast a few times a week. I'm just worried about the long term effects, I mean all drugs have an effect on you after a while eg, crack doesnt take long. I know people have been smoking weed almost every day for years but still, im sure its slowly doing something..
It doesn't really have any physical effect to you, other than lung damage. (which really isn't that bad) But it does eventually change your mind for better or worse, depending on your personality. For me, I've discovered some philosophic realizations and psychological thoughts relating to why certain people act the way they do.
Everyday for two weeks. In my opinion.
Marijuana is actually quite good for you - fights cancer, possibly stimulates brain cell growth... it's like a vitamin. People associate cigarette smoke with marijuana smoke and assume it does damage. Cigarette smoke and marijuana smoke are quite different. Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor and bronchial constrictor, which keeps all the tar (mainly from all the chemicals they add to cigarettes) in your lungs and it settles there. On the other hand, marijuana is a bronchial dilator and vasodilator, so any tar that would have been in the smoke has an easy exit, effectively delivering more air to your lungs than before you had smoked.
wow I'm sort of a little bit high from last night and I'm just worried, I don't want to end up like those drug fucked hippies you see. \=

who's ug.. \=
I've been smoking a long time and all I've ever noticed in the way of long term side effects is dissociation ranging from weak to severe (depending on how much and how often) you just need to be self aware of it if it starts happening to you and nip it in the bud (haha). Nowadays I just tend to ride it out and realize it's the green but sometimes the extra "Don't give a fuck" is so strong it affects your working life and if it does you need to take action towards it. and of course.. an empty wallet! Green won't really do anything to you in the long term aside from the obvious health risks of smoking and if you do end up going crazy scizophrenic it was going to happen sometime in your life
Let me tell you this much.. I smoke a alot of weed. Even now i've cut down on what i used to smoke but i've smoked enough marijuana to coat my entire lungs with resin i'm sure. Before i started smoking weed my vocabulary was alot more (see what fucking word do i want to use!) ... better. I would use smart words, even when talking irl. I was thinking SO hard the other day to tell my mom the way she was treating me. I had the definition in my brain but not the word. I just drew blank. Finally after i was already talking to her i thought of it condescending! Like.. that's not even that fancy of a word but i couldn't get the word into my brain. This goes with lots of things i think about and sometimes when i'm in arguments with my girlfriend and she asks me a complicated question like 'so tell me what i just said' and then as soon as i think of it.. it's gone! this can be any conversation with anyone, even if i'm watching a movie and think 'wait, what just happened?' Basically the long term effects are shitty.. and it's leading to an inevitable quitting (which in my case, some people think it's hard to believe) but i know it's gotta happen sometime.. Cutting back can obviously slow down the effects but if you want a job with regular piss tests like i want, then it's obvious i've got to quit. I'm really baked and just rambled on and on
condescending!
I just used that word on my step-mom too! :D
stuff about decreased vocabulary
Shit my fears are confirmed. I thought it was all in my head. These past few months, Ive noticed that I can't really iterate shit as clearly as I used to. I thought it was all in my head. Damn. It really sucks when I'm trying to argue with someone irl and I can't fucking explain anything because I can't recall the right words and usage and shit.
yeah except i got so much thc in my brain that i think alot slower than i used to.. the one and basically only side effect that's bad from smoking weed frequently [editline]6th December 2010[/editline]
Shit my fears are confirmed. It kind of makes me want to never touch weed again. As silly as that sounds. I value having some semblance of intelligence when I talk irl.
yeah.. plus i plan on going into the police academy in 3 and a half years... maybe 4 and a half... I think i'll be done with weed once i finish high school...
If you are bonging, than expect to have a bit of memory loss later on, you get use to it and realize it isn't much of a deal, your lungs might feel like there is heaps of mucus in them, it can be a bit unpleasant in the mornings. Also people say weed isn't a intense drug, but if you can handle weed everyday than you can pretty much handle any drug out there.

I think it's just a personality thing, he's one of the smartest people I know, spiritually.
well if you're born with an above average IQ then yeah, you'll have a greater chance of minimizing those effects
I'm starting to hit the point described above. I've always been a 3.9-4.0 student, but his semester I am getting 2 B's and a C.

The college I really want to go to is known for being populated by superstoners. I won't be able to quit if I go there. I won't be able to pass up any offered to me rofl. I've actually been trying to quit for awhile because of my flying hobby and turning 18. I've been less serious about flying and I pretty much only smoke at home now so I just don't have the desire to quit anymore.
The affects really depend on your personality. For me, it's made me think and understand things pretty deeply and still retain good grades in school where my friend also has been able to understand and think deeply but he's lazy as shit in school. One of my friends who used to be smart back in middle school got stupid and hangs out with some fucking idiots. My other friend also got stupid and whenever he has a girfriend he somehow cheats on them only because he can't control himself worth shit when he's under the influence of anything. Then there's my sister who seems to have everything just come to her and she still finds the time to smoke it up before going to work or her classes.

One negative effect is depersonalization. It of course is not good if you have any metal conditions. Smoking a lot can do some damage to your lungs over a long period of time, especially with a lack of exercise. The negative effects just aren't that big to worry about because there is a such a big window of time before you get seriously affected by any issues it may cause (mainly talking about the lung one). You're only going to start slacking if you let yourself. Your vocabulary isn't going to diminish because you smoke weed regularly .It is going to diminish because you haven't been using those words very much and you haven't put an effort to retain it. Same with grades and getting stuff done and sounding intelligent. It isn't at all the drug that is causing the issue, it is the person. Some people get very lazy when they smoke a lot of weed or get very dumb because they can't think straight. This is a temporary effect.
i've definitely noticed reduced vocabulary. i think it fucks with some part of your brain somewhere along the line, but it's not permanent and for all i know it could just be happening cause we're getting older or some shit. so don't necessarily attribute that to the bud. the only real downside to smoking weed is the money, and it does fuck with your lungs a little bit, but once again nothing serious/permanent. there will come a point where if you smoke enough you'll cough some shit up. it's not like all that smoke isn't leaving something behind. it's not really a bad thing, it's just there.
I feel as if the only long-term effects caused by marijuana use are those left behind by the smoking I did at a very young age. When I was 10-12 I smoked quite a bit (for a 10/11/12-year-old) and I am now convinced that this had a noticeable and measurable effect on my memory development. It may be a complete coincidence, but I do believe now that I would be memorizing/remembering things better if I hadn't been smoking weed when I was so young. It also changed something else in me - some weird-but-familiar, inherent but strange - sort of thing which I'm having a very hard time "putting my finger on" at the moment, but I am absolutely convinced that I would be a different person right now had I not smoked marijuana when I was younger, and so young. [editline]6th December 2010[/editline] Note that: As I post this, I am a-stoned. So, despite the fact that "Hey maybe it changed me when I was little and now I can't remember things", I still (and will into the foreseeable future) smoke pot.
After a long period of smoking marijuana frequently (At least for a few months up to a year, and at least 5-7 times a week) your short-term memory worsens by up to 25% (this change can be permanent if your brain is still in heavy development (under the age of 15-20 depending on the person) otherwise your memory is restored after 2-3 weeks of abstinence), you get a shitty vocabulary (I've also noticed my spelling goes down drastically), you get very lazy and unmotivated, never set any long-term goals, your sex-drive can drop e.t.c. Of course, the effects are different from person to person, but worsened short-term memory and worsened vocabulary are probably the most common effects so you can expect those.
I smoke weed every fucking day And each day I get wiser And smartassier
To people having vocab issues. I've been taking something called Piracetam which has REALLY helped me as far as this goes. Get some and try it out, it's worth it.
Don't do it heavily unless you're bored with life and retired. It just ends up bad. Really bad for most people. It depends on your personality too. Most people don't have shit when it comes to willpower, but if you can just limit yourself to doing it when you don't have anything better to do (summers full of weed are awesome) weed can be a very fun substance to use. My vocab didn't diminish, my math skills didn't diminish but I over-analyzed things a lot and was more soft spoken when I smoked heavily. Also, smoking a lot can lead to depersonalization (basically altering your mind is splitting your personality in two and if you start to embrace the other reality as the true one then things can go really bad to the point of a mental condition). Personally I don't view any of my perceptions of reality as true ones, but that's because I lean towards the buddhism mindset of enlightenment. Try meditation if you want to progress some ware (savlia was a good drug experience too). Weed just makes you super dumb so you enjoy stuff easier. Great for parties, great for chillin' out with friends but a terrible demon if you let it get out of hand.
