ReLive replaces the Raptr-powered AMD Gaming Evolved app that AMD unceremoniously dumped a few months back. It brings a bevy of video recording and streaming options right into AMD’s core software to challenge Nvidia’s popular Share (née Shadowplay) solution. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There’s all sorts of new gamer-centric tools, including FreeSync improvements, HDR support, and a feature designed to ratchet down Radeon temperatures and power usage when extra oomph isn’t needed.
http://www.pcworld.com/article/3147292/software-games/feature-stuffed-radeon-software-crimson-relive-debuts-amds-rivals-to-shadowplay-fraps.html [t]http://icdn2.digitaltrends.com/image/ocat1-2174x1221.png[/t]
Recording frame times is a crucial part of benchmarking a gaming PC, but it’s become more difficult as of late because DirectX 12 doesn’t work quite the same as DX11. Older tools, most notably FRAPS, can’t record DX12 games. And while a few benchmarks exist, they’re either specific to a particular game, or difficult to use. Luckily, AMD has decided to save the day. It commissioned a third-party developer to build an easy to use tool for DirectX 12 and Vulkan benchmarking. The result is OCAT. Though developed by AMD, it works with Intel and Nvidia graphics, as well.
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/amd-just-released-awesome-benchmark-141505768.html
“Achieving a score of 100 on the CEI was one of the first goals we set when we formed the AMD Pride employee resource group. We knew it was important to continue fostering a positive, safe, and inclusive work environment and culture that accepts everyone, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation, and celebrates those differences. We have come a long way, but we know there is always more work to do. We are excited to continue working to make sure that everyone is able to bring their whole self to work every day,” said Steven Guzzo, co-chair of the Pride LGBT and Allies employee resource group at AMD.
http://www.amd.com/en-us/press-releases/Pages/amd-named-a-best-2016dec05.aspx You can have equality and excellence as your goals and get things done if you put your mind to it.
so... streaming and diversity?
I hope AMD doesn't lose the PC GPU market.
I hope AMD doesn't lose the PC GPU market.
Maybe, but if they play their cards right they can overtake Intel in the cpu market.
[del]I hate that AMD is the only one pushing HDR, which is incredibly important in the modern age especially now that TVs support it. Pascal technically supports it, but I only found that out after doing digging for ages trying to find out. And even then, there's barely any software that supports it and no monitors that support it. If AMD can push the great color of HDR, I think we'll be in a much better state, especially considering that consoles did it first lmao. I have hope for them in pushing various technologies like this.[/del] update: i fucked up. check below.
Maybe, but if they play their cards right they can overtake Intel in the cpu market.
It's probably more realistic to wait for them to stabilize their collapsing market share in home PCs, and non existent share in enterprise, than them "overtaking" intel by any stretch of the imagination. Things aren't too much better for them in GPU land either, Nvidia is annihilating them currently, esp on the high end where they enjoy 0 competition from amd, and is making serious inroads to supercomputing and datacenters that amd has next to no focus in. Analysis has gone into AMD's marketability issues multiple times, and generally it tends to come back to the same thing. AMD just doesn't have the brand power of intel or Nvidia. There are multiple explainations for this, but generally I think that the end result hasnt been super great for them in both areas of processor design they engage in.
Maybe, but if they play their cards right they can overtake Intel in the cpu market.
Even if they completely annihilate Intel for multiple years in a row that wouldn't happen.
Considering all the shit Nvidia did to Shadowplay with the whole having to register and sign in for updates, removing features and such, I hope this is really good and AMD makes a solid competitor here.

Jen-Hsun had a freaking keynote speech on it. 10bit games: GRiD 1 and 2 DiRT Alien:Isolation Resident Evil 5 Shadow Warrior 2 and one more game I can't think of at the moment with like a shit ton more on the horizon. (basically anything made with Frostbite or U4)
I hate that AMD is the only one pushing HDR
I'm an ATI fanboy, but even I know my Nvidia Shield TV fully supports HDR along with every other modern piece of Nvidia hardware. Where did this idea even come from?
Those features aren't the only ones in the articles, I didn't mention the amd down clock feature that you can turn on and slows down your frame rate if you're over 1000 or so. Also Wattman came to some new cards (fury x and some 300, 200 series) so you can overclock and change voltages from inside a legit direct-from-company program.
This is some cool shit, way better than that raptr trash they were pushing. Fuck, I just downgraded to a used 750ti. If I had known this was coming I would have bought a new 460 instead. Raptr may have been painful to setup, but at least it (and it looks this) gave way more power to the user and didn't randomly crap out during long recordings.
If using AMD's take on Shadowplay doesn't require you to set up an account, then I guess my next GPU will be an AMD GPU. I remember trying really fucking hard to find any info about pascal supporting it (okay not really too hard cause it was like the first google result but after several searches on if PC supported HDR.) Why did nobody tell me this aaaaa shit

It should also be noted, though this isn't related to this driver in particular, that the RX 480 (and the rest of the RX line up presumably) has made pretty big gains on the 1060 according to hardwarecanucks. Basically ties it in DX11 (in the titles tested, of course) now, and is ahead in DX12. At this power envelope, I don't think the power draw is that important, but the 1060 still leads in efficiency by a pretty large margin, so it's not like miracles are everywhere, but it's something to keep an eye on.

AMD has supported hardware video encoding for a long time now but it's nice to finally get a first-party response. Quick Google shows the 1060 being quite a bit cheaper but I could be missing something. The 1060 might still be the better value.

More information is being sent per pixel which means a wider gamut of colors and higher contrast.
The quality from the instant replay feature kinda sucks, but maybe I'm doing something wrong. (This is probably just an issue with Ace Combat Assault Horizon so I'm not sure, it looks okay overall anyway, it looks decent for YouTube videos.)

Driver Sweeper?
It is exactly that, it nukes all reference to the previous driver and installs the new, it takes quite a while for it work. Honestly only use it if you're having issues with the driver, but its nice they included it.
so... streaming and diversity?
It should be noted that the CEI measures workplace equality and (afaict) not diversity. This means that, instead of trying to force employment ratios regardless of actual work climate, it requires the company to provide real equal opportunity programs throughout its policies instead.
Update did some fun stuff to my graphics: [editline]later[/editline] I eventually had to uninstall the drivers and go back one version. It also underclocked my core and vram, I'll let them figure it out before I update.
Update did some fun stuff to my graphics:
That's unfortunate. What's your card?
thank god, no more bullshit from raptr ever again
That's unfortunate. What's your card?
ASUS DirectCU II R9 290. I suspect power stuff because this card is only stable at exactly the stock values it shipped with, whenever I've tried OC'ing or under-volting it, it has these issues.
