Ga. Teen Tied to Shopping Cart Drowns After Being Pushed In Lake
CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Georgia officials say an 18-year-old drowned just hours after graduating high school when he was tied to a shopping cart and pushed into a lake as part of a game with friends.
She says in the game Saturday night, participants sat in a shopping cart that was tied to a pole.
Others pushed the cart to the end of the dock so that the person sitting in it would be flung into the water. Cummings says the cart was tied to Werner instead of a pole and it pulled him under.
What fucked up game is this

Sounds like (stupid) but harmless fun, they were just launching off a dock in a shopping cart. What I'm wondering is how they got tied to the cart by accident? Maybe the rope came loose from the pole they were using to stop the cart from sinking and they got caught on it.
"Let's remove your ability to swim and throw in the lake"
I know you're young and immature but please, don't be this stupid
Jesus, that's some Looney Tunes levels of screw-up there.
Why did none of them think to go in after him to help him?
They were probably all drunk or something.

Read the article, they were not intended to be tied to the cart. The carts were tied to poles to prevent them from sinking, but somehow the guy got tied to the cart instead of the pole

Darwin award...?

The article makes it sound like they decided to tie it to him instead of the pole, not that it was an accident.
Obviously not the sharpest tools in the shed. But I can see how such a simple and stupid mistake was overlooked. Very sad nonetheless
Why the hell would you tie someone to a shopping cart and throw them into a lake? That's sounds more like how the hobo mafia would get rid of someone, not a game to play with friends.

Yeah I know, article could have been written way better. They were doing something dumb for sure but they were just goofing around and it's awful that one of them died

Were you never 18 or are you one of those people who didn't dick around with friends when you were younger?
Made me think of this

Stupid mistakes happen.

I dick around, but I just smoke weed and go to shopping malls high.
Much less dangerous.
Maybe it was more of a joke gone wrong. Someone ties him to the cart for a laugh, doesn't expect it to kill him because they didn't think very carefully about it.

I'm pretty sure even the dumbest teens from Georgia can differentiate a pole from a person's leg
Wait I dont understand, sitting in a rolling shopping cart is likely to warrant some injuries, but to get flung from one after it comes to a sudden stop? wow
I mean, if they're being pushed, the speed they reach is going to be equivalent to the speed of the person pushing - why not just run and jump into the lake or use a bike?
Cummings says
I would hate to have a name like that, he must had a tough life in high school.
What a terrifying way to die, poor kid.
What a horrifying way to die, poor kid.
I bet the other kids feel even worse now or even emotionally unstable

When you were younger you ever had your uncle pick you up and throw you in the pool? Pretty much the same concept I would think. Just more likely to fail. Like it did...
Tying someone to a heavy non-bouyant object and pushing them into a lake together with it? Gee I wonder what the fuck could happen. These guys deserves to get thrown in prison and have the key thrown away

...both the article and the thread have made it clear it was an accident, they were not intentionally tied to the cart.
I wonder what all of his mighty friends did while he sank under the surface.
"whooooa shit bro, should we call 911 or something?"
[editline]27th May 2014[/editline]
I bet they didn't even make a single attempt to rescue him.
I bet someone even thought it would be a funny joke to tie him to the cart, so you can all forget about "accidents" and "mistakes"

stupid fucking yank kids.

No way it's mad fun! Me and my friends used to sit in shopping carts and push eachother into the curb so we'd fly out and land in grass. It hurt a bit but it was fun as fuck.
Why would you even want to go near any water when you're drunk? Why not get some fucking pillows and cushions and go jousting with those shopping carts?

Alcohol doesn't remove your ability to swim you know.

wouldnt it be cool if people that smoked weed talked about something other than smoking weed

#420blazeit right?
wouldnt it be cool if people that smoked weed talked about something other than smoking weed
I was gonna say "HEY I SMOKE WEED AND DON'T TALK ABOUT IT!" But then I realized that would require me to talk about it.
...both the article and the thread have made it clear it was an accident, they were not intentionally tied to the cart.
The article is far too short, has so little details, and doesn't even have a single reliable witness testimony, and you expect me to believe that? Sorry, I'm not that naive.
The kids were probably lying through their teeth. But then again one kid is already dead, so they probably saw it as the best option not ruin any more lives after him.
