My dog dos the exact same thing. I'm pretty sure they do it to clean their "beard" which would explain why they vigorously rub their face on the carpet.

My dog does that all the time. You can see circles in the carpet after she does it.
My dog always does this after walks.
Pretty much every dog I know does this.
I now just think of it as a normal occurrence, not something special to film.
