• Enough of the religious labeling

Stop labeling yourselves as Christians if you don't follow it to the core bible, because then you are in your own religious terms. Belief in god doesn't constitute religion either; It's more spiritual then religious. This is getting ridiculous, I see people saying "I'm a christian but I don't kill my neighbor for working on Sundays" and they don't realize this is what you have to do if you were a real christian.
Cool another religion thread, thanks OP! fyi people are allowed to label themselves as christians as much as they like and there is literally no difference between spiritual and religious. Its not up to you.
No one term has a single definition. A Christian - a believer in the principles and values taught by Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ of the New Testament doesn't kill thy neighbours.
just be atheist like every normal person problem solved
I am a Christian but I don't believe in god, Jesus, or the accuracy of the Bible.
I am a Christian but I don't believe in god, or the accuracy of the Bible.
Then you aren't a christian by definition.
No one term has a single definition. A Christian - a believer in the principles and values taught by Jesus Christ.
Then you aren't a christian by definition. It has a very clear definition unless you take into account the many thousands of derivative religions that exist.
But it's what I believe.
By definition? What definition? Do you suppose that a definition of a word is some sort of physical law that cannot be broken? Words are made by humanity for humanity, and they may be used in any way. There are no laws to communication.
nope
yep
But it's what I believe.
IE. if I believed one excerpt from the bible as a moral value, I'm not going to say that I'm a christian.
stop no im right youre wrong yes ^this is all you are saying.
sorry i meant to say spiritual is just a shit word that people use for everything and means nothing.
Although I'm fully aware I'll get a boxfort for this, Christianity has transformed from a fairly crazy, yet moral religion into a cash cow that loosely defines itself as a set of codes that you should already live by as a normal human being (IE not killing people)
"No true Scotsman fallacy" Learn it.
stop no im right youre wrong yes ^this is all you are saying.
No, what I'm saying is try using logic. Your philosophical psuedo bullshit won't get anywhere in life.
sorry i meant to say spiritual is just a shit word that people use for everything and means nothing.
no
"No true Scotsman fallacy" Learn it.
Done, point isn't negated.
How about everyone keeps their religious beliefs to themselves?
Done, point isn't negated.
Sorry, yes it is. There is no definition for what a "true christian" is. You imply it in your post, but other people define Christianity differently. I was joking when I said that I was a self-proclaimed Christian, which is by all definitions untrue. But you have to accept that groups of people who are self-proclaimed Christians don't follow the Bible strictly. Nobody can follow the Bible perfectly, it has too many contradictions for that.

I'm saying if they don't follow the bible down to the contradictions they aren't Christians by definition. If people define it differently then that's what I'm talking about here.
logic right lets try that one shall we The word 'decimate' used to mean 'kill one in ten' or 'reduce by one tenth'. The actual practice is no longer used, so the word evolved to have a different, more broad meaning. Logically, this must mean that words are capable of taking on new meanings to accomodate changes in the world. Those following God are no longer expected to follow a strict ruleset to do so, so the meaning of the word Christian must be changed to accomodate this.

Yes, it's a little silly, but that's how it is. Deal with it.
yep
prove it
logic right lets try that one shall we The word 'decimate' used to mean 'kill one in ten' or 'reduce by one tenth'.
prove it
my mom said it was true
Correction, by your definition. There is no strict definition for what a Christian is anymore.
That's opinion based then, and here I am stating that you shouldn't accommodate* words that have caused such negativity on the development of humanity.
what does this statement mean?
my mom said it was true
lies
That's opinion based then, and here I am stating that you shouldn't accommodate words that have caused such negativity on the development of humanity.
So just to be clear, the word is naughty so people shouldn't treat it the same as other words. Right? And of course it's opinion based. There's very little about language that isn't. Edit: Here you are personifying words just after telling me to stop being philosphical.
what does this statement mean? lies
ask your mom
So just to be clear, the word is naughty so people shouldn't treat it the same as other words. itt OP has no knowledge of Christianity and takes shallowest stance in order to attack Christianity. GG.
itt OP has no knowledge of Christianity and takes shallowest stance in order to attack Christianity. GG.
Not attacking anything, it doesn't take intelligence to see that its shallow.
Not attacking anything, it doesn't take intelligence to see that its shallow.
Another nail.
Another nail.
So many nails, you would think an apologist would defend its core values somehow.
Wrong coffin, mate. Also, love the use of the derogatory term "apologist" - classy.
