BATON ROUGE, La. - A not-so-funny thing happened to Alabama on its way to an Iron Bowl showdown with undefeated Auburn. The Crimson Tide lost 24-21 Saturday to LSU, spoiling hopes of a second consecutive national championship. Alabama (7-2, 4-2 in the Southeastern Conference), ranked No. 6 in the BCS standings, still can get to the SEC Championship Game, but it needs Auburn to lose next week to Georgia and on Nov. 26 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Crimson Tide took a 14-10 lead late in the third quarter on a 5-yard touchdown run by Mark Ingram, but LSU scored the next 14 points. Josh Jasper kicked a 35-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter to cut Alabama's lead to one point. The No. 10 Tigers (8-1, 5-1) then took the lead on a 1-yard touchdown run by Stevan Ridley. That touchdown was set up by a 23-yard run on a reverse by Deangelo Peterson on a 4th-and-1 play from Alabama's 26-yard line. Jordan Jefferson threw to Reueben Randle for a 2-point conversion. LSU clinched the victory with a 39-yard field goal by Jasper with 5:34 left in the game. That was set up when Drake Nevis forced a fumble while sacking Greg McElroy. Kelvin Sheppard recovered at LSU's 28-yard line. Alabama answered with a 9-yard touchdown pass from McElroy to Julio Jones with 3:23 left to make it 24-21, but LSU clinched the victory with 2:35 left when Jarrett Lee threw 47 yards to a wide-open Randle on a third-and-13 play. Alabama led 7-3 at halftime, but LSU scored first. An interception by LSU's Kelvin Sheppard set up a 45-yard field goal by Jasper, giving the Tigers a 3-0 lead with 9:23 to go in the first quarter. Alabama came back to take the lead two series later when Trent Richardson caught a short pass from McElroy on third-and-goal and reached the ball barely over the goal-line for a 1-yard touchdown play with 12:55 left in the second quarter. The play was reviewed and the call was upheld. That completed an 11-play, 81-yard drive that was the only possession by either team that went more than 50 yards in the first half. The Tigers gained 50 yards on their final possession, but time expired after an 11-yard pass to Terrence Toliver that put LSU on Alabama's 47-yard line. Until that last drive, LSU had only 45 total yards and two first downs. LSU struck first in the second half when Jefferson connected over the middle to Randle, who then outraced Alabama safety mark Barron to the end zone to complete a 75-yard touchdown pass.
Living in northern Alabama, and not going two pelican dicks about football, it's quite a show to see my hilly-billy acquaintances scream bloody murder over a damned football game. :patriot:
Haha Auburn is

I live in Michigan man, how fun do you think it is to go back to a bad year and have Auburn (Michigan State here) beat you a ton. Whatever, we won 62-something in triple-OT
Haha Auburn is
not a fan of Auburn or Oregon, but I personally think Oregon is
Ole miss rebels represent :D :smith:
Michigan gets a much needed win and LSU beats Alabama. It was a good day indeed.

Well they've lost pretty much their entire defense from last year so I didn't expect them to be again. Give them another year or two though, and another undefeated season could be very likely.
Who cares about who's going to be champions of a silly division when my lovely Ducks are the unstoppable force that will rule the child's play that is the NCAA for years to come. It's fun when you score 53 points against a team and it's actually below your average quality of play.
The SEC silly? Psh, the SEC is the best devision in the NCAA. The ducks are just having a lucky year and the SEC teams are beating the shit out of each other so bad it's harder for them to compete. Go Florida Gators! Yeah, we aren't going to the SEC Championships and our season hasn't been all that great, but they're still a decent team.
Tim Tebow is still crying.
And he's still making more money than you. You weren't in his position, so you can't really criticize him crying fairly. He had the opportunity to bring home a BCS title with an undefeated season, which would have been the first time that has ever happened for Florida University.

I'm proud of Auburn. Seeing how they didn't have that good of years in the past then having SEC championship eligibility this year proves that college football is very exciting. You never know who is going to have a good year and who is going to be the doormat to big games. I'm hoping that UF beats South Carolina so we might have a chance at redemption in Atlanta, but seeing how well Auburn is playing I'm not too hopeful about the future.
I hope mines a football.
Go Auburn!! I live there actually--the town's going nuts.
remember when tebow LOST to us rebels? good day, good day that was.
Then he made this promise:
I'm sorry. I'm extremely sorry. We were hoping for an undefeated season. That was my goal, something Florida's never done here. But I promise you one thing: a lot of good will come out of this. You have never seen any player in the entire country play as hard as I will play the rest of this season and you'll never see someone push the rest of the team as hard as I will push everybody the rest of this season, and you'll never see a team play harder than we will the rest of this season. God Bless.
Kept it, then went on to win our second national chapionship in three years. Good year, good year that was.
It's such a terrible year to be a Texas fan :(
Tis great year for being an Auburn fan
It's a great year to be a college football fan overall though, that's for sure. If, 10 years ago, you'd said the top 6 teams in the BCS would one day be: Oregon, Auburn, TCU, Boise State, LSU, and Stanford, you'd be a laughingstock

Ha!! And now it's sealed, Auburn is the new SEC champion!

So long as we don't get any more players ejected from the game, we should be good. I never did get to see what the fight was about (I listen to the games on the radio.)
