YOU’LL BE PICKING through the wreckage of post-apocalyptic Boston very soon.Fallout 4, the anticipated new entry in Bethesda’s line of nuclear-wasteland role-playing games, will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 10, the publisher said at E3 Expo on Sunday evening
At its press conference, Bethesda showed a world of staggering scope. Not only can you roam around burnt-out Beantown (which producer Todd Howard called “the most ambitious and detailed game world we have ever made,”) but you can rebuild it to your liking. Collect scrap, build new houses, run electrical grids to power them, etc.
If you can’t wait to get your Fallout on, Bethesda announced (and immediately released) a new iOS game called Fallout Shelter, in which you play the Overseer of one of the series’ famous fallout shelter vaults and manage the people and resources inside.
And our very own red_phareoh summed up my reaction to fallout 4 last night perfectly;

Here's hoping the game's finished and not bug-ridden by the time of release like you've come to expect of big publisher AAA titles these days.
Even with the supposed removal of skills and the streamlined dialogue, I'm still going to play the fuck out of this. I'm just so happy the gunplay was finally fixed
Removal of skills?
Source plz

Get a grenade launcher, flamer, IR vision mod and Fatboy, and you've got everything you need to get onna bouce!
I am so fucking hyped for this.
Also incredibly fucking pissed off that the mobile game they released is iOS exclusive.
gamebryo m8
Nothing game breaking but it's gonna be a bug fest as always.
Honestly, I hope I'm not the only one who actually loves seeing the Day One glitch videos that ALWAYS come out for Bethesda RPGs.
They're fucking hilarious everytime
I usually avoid hype trains like the plague but the item customization is too good

They said they're going to be releasing it on android, just launching for iOS right now though.

The Pip-Boy screens didn't show any skills, and the SPECIAL stats just said stuff like "Strength increases your melee damage", rather than "this affects your Melee Weapons, Unarmed(...)", I suppose.
On the other hand, you could clearly see Skill Bobbleheads on the Bobblehead Stand, which will likely give you a permanent buff like Fallout 3.

Maybe it's all just WIP. Game's first due in 5 months.
Removal of skills?
Source plz
its just rumors right now, there are a few things that lead people to believe they axed or at least changed how the skill system works, an example being that Intelligence doesn't affect how many skill points you receive, but rather how much XP you receive.
But like the guy above said the Bobbleheads are back, in the pic he posted there's a Barter bobblehead, and Barter was a skill so who really knows.
I wouldn't mind if it changed to a use base skill up anyways though like Elder Scrolls. It would make sense for it to be files in the data tab that the demo didn't look in if that's the case.
To be honest, I was really not looking towards another Fallout, mainly with it being on Gamebryo yet again, but I have to admit that videos of the weapon customization, fucking powered armour customization, buildings and settlements and seemingly somewhat more action friendly combat have somewhat dulled my cynicism.
It might possibly even be worth grabbing on summer sale three years after release, with all the DLC to it for $10 total, and all the gamebreaking bugs patched, either officially or by modders.
The power armor customization and layered armor system is basically every Nexus modder's worst nightmare. They won't be able to get mad fame by making orginal donut steel mixed and matched armors any more.
I'm sorry, but if they removed skills then they basically cut the RPG out of the RPG.
No way I'm going to buy it if that is the case.

i wanna make myself a shortened, fully automatic laser rifle and just fuck shit up with it

There is still levelling up and there are perk trees.
They're going to Skyrim way.from the looks of it.
I'm skeptical of the new crit meter and the supposed removal of skills. I would love to be proven wrong but I feel that this is being overhyped.
There are Skill 'Ranks' it seems. Like in Skyrim

I wish people would actually put effort and vision making mods and maintain the game's original integrity, most modders are just attention seekers.

do people actually believe in the removal of skills being a thing
Tod even mentioned skills in the e3 show oh my god
how the hell are so many people coming to this conclusion, I am blown away
tell me, please, how did you come to this?
the original skill system sucked anyway
it punished you lategame if you took any stat setup other than 10 intelligence

That's just false. Having a specific system that rates your skills on a 1-100 number is a tiny tiny part of what makes an RPG.

I'm more concerned about having a voiced protagonist, it cuts the RP out of RPG significantly. I like to roleplay characters and imagine their personalities, such as a patriotic NCR nationalist or a retard who solves things by hitting them with his retard strength. Giving the protagonist a prescribed personality removes that element, Bethesda's writing falls flat nowadays and I don't want them to screw up our characters.
Customization and the building/salvaging aspect is a huge plus for me, reminds me of Dead Space 3's weapon crafting, and I spent many hours using that so I'm excited
After the shock of there being voice actors, which I've just about come to terms with and can see the value of, I'm kinda worried the only non-power armour outfit is the vault suit +/- some armoured parts
First thing I always do in F:NV and F03 is ditch the vault suit, It feels too vanilla and boring.

I'm certain there's elements that you can customize armor wise. I.e. Take some elements of the combat armor and integrate them with leather armor, vault suit, etc.

Just watched the blood n guts trailer and the gunplay looks exactly the same, except with faster firing guns
I watched the e3 conference hoping for better gunplay and character customisation.
Jesus h fuck i got so much more
