NATO Chief Auditor Yves Chandelon found dead in suspicious incident

[QUOTE]Yves Chandelon, the chief auditor of NATO relating to terrorism financing and money laundering, has been found dead in his car in an incident that raises suspicions.
62-year-old Chandelon's death, resembling a suicide with a shot fired to his head, occurred on Dec. 16 and the body was found in his car the same day although the incident was largely kept away from the media. Belgian press started covering the incident on Dec. 21 as his family raised suspicions about his death.
Despite Chandelon being left-handed, a gun was found in his right hand, and the gun was not one of Chandelon's three registered guns. These details raised suspicions about an assassination rather than a suicide.
Chandelon's death occurred three days before the murder of Russia's Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov in Ankara on Dec. 19. Another Russian diplomat, Petr Polshikov, was also found dead in his apartment in Moscow the same day.

Daily Sabah isn't at all a legitimate source, it's well known as a propaganda rag for the Turkish government.
Also, being left handed and shooting with your right hand is extremely common given how uncommon left-handed guns are. Plus if you were a professional assassin would you really fuck that up?

Actually a fair few types of pistols are completely ambidextrous, so it would in fact be very weird for a lefty to shoot themselves in the right temple.

Not really. A lot of lefties like myself write with their left hand but do other things with their right hand.
Hm. Here's another source from a regional news paper, though its in French.

If it turns out to be fake, feel free to lock this thread.
Also it was apparently done with a firearm he didn't own, we he owned three already.

The other source that was just provided says otherwise, instead just claiming it was unregistered and apparently kept in his car.

Have you handled a firearm before? I find most are fairly easy to operate with either hand, unless it's a longarm of course.

A professional assassin probably wouldn't try and look like a suicide to begin with.

It happens all the time. If not making it look like a suicide, then they try and make it look like an accident. During the Cold War, spies would sometimes force other agents to write their own suicide notes to make things look more convincing before they murdered them. They'd threaten their families if they refused to comply.

a lot of older guns have controls for one hand but for things like a revolver it wouldnt really matter

they would if they didnt want it to look like a murder since someone high up in NATO would be pretty noteworthy
Where was the gun from? Seems extremely unlikely for him to commit suicide with an illegal gun when he owns several. An assassin could not feasibly steal his gun for the purpose without leaving traces.

If it can be made to look ambiguous, I would call that successful. What better way to inspire fear in those who might have similar intentions?

A possible suicide isn't all that scary. An obvious assassination would probably be more successful.
"Holy shit that guy got fucking murdered" vs. "Huh, my boss' boss died."

A straight-out assassination also means the inevitable investigation into whoever did it and why, versus a suicide (or well disguised suicide) doesn't exactly trigger such a big investigation.
Someone might've wanted him out of the picture, but without dragging attention to themselves.
What if it was suicide by assassination
