A MAN is in a critical condition after he was set on fire when he refused to give a beggar money.
The incident happened in Long Beach, California on Friday afternoon outside a 7-Eleven.
The 63-year-old man was getting into his SUV when the beggar doused his car and set it on fire.
His victim remains in hospital with third-degree burns to his chest and face.
Holy shit!
Did he throw alcohol or gasoline on it? It just said "doused". That's just fucked up.
Holy fucking shit, what?

I'd say gas.
And I thought getting motor oil on the windshield was bad.
Some beggars are just fucking crazy.

There's a higher incidence of crazy in beggars. At least in downtown Denver.
It's pretty pathetic that there are people in this world that can do such things especially over something such as this... Great examples of human beings. (Sarcasm)
If the suspect is still at large I guess the police must be hot on his tail.
Just heard about this on the news yesterday, I guess they had been arguing and the beggar threw a bunch of liquid on him and set him ablaze
snarky comment on banning fires/gasoline
There's overreaction, and there's setting cars on fire.
How did a beggar afford so much petrol...

No, setting people on fire is a perfectly normal reaction to someone refusing you money. Right guys?
Guys?

Aw crap.
Long beach is a scary place.
when the mentally unwell are cast out onto the streets, this is what happens. and people will use it as an attempt to demonize the homeless.

Well yeah? I'm not disagreeing with you, and I'm certainly not trying to paint homeless people as terrible people.
Something similar happened to my family back in Arizona. We parked our car at a local Safeway, and some lady came up to my dad asking for money, and he said, "Maybe on the way out".
On our way out, we found the lady trying to tear the wheels off our Nissan Pathfinder, as well as someone else with her trying to rip off our front bumper.

I heard the cops are burning through their leads.
I'm wondering how you can even let a guy do this.
"Oh, this dude is putting massive amounts of gas on my car. I'm going to just sit in my car and not immediately drive away and wait for him to set me on fire!"
Unless I underestimate the amount of time it would take to completely douse a man's car (with the man inside of it before you do this, as that is what happened here) and light it on fire before the guy can react, get out of the car, drive away, etc.
