So, I first heard the Dogs when they were competing as a part of Rolling Stone's Cover Contest in which one artist/band would get to be on the cover of Rolling Stone. (Thus making them the first unsigned artist/band on the cover of Rolling Stone.) The Sheepdogs attracted me very much with just everything about them. They are a glorious example of a Rock Revival band. They dress, act and play like a Southern Rock/Boogie Rock/Bluesy Rock band of the 70's. I best compare them with the Allman Brothers (the Dogs' lead singer and lead guitarist, Ewan Currie, constantly mentions Dickey Betts and even had a "Dickey Betts Fan Club" t-shirt on at one point) mixed with the swagger of ZZ Top. The Sheepdogs give me hope that not all music will eventually conform into pop, which I do like, but I much prefer good old rock. The Dogs' are from Saskatoon. (WHAAAAAAT SOUTHERN ROCK FROM CANADA?) The band consists of: Ewan Currie on vocals and guitar, Leot Hanson on guitar, Ryan Gullen on bass and Sam Corbett on drums. I really like these guys, they started out so small, and after a few venues showing their talents everybody loved them.
Yeah. I just picked up the Rolling Stone mag with their cover.
They were sweet live, they sound better than studio
I watched them at Bonnaroo. Looked like a hell of a show, I wish I coulda gone to it. It looked like they all really enjoyed just being there and playing in Tennessee.
Double post, yeah I know. I got Learn and Burn from Amazon. It's really, really great. You can tell that they have tons of other influences besides The Allman Brothers Band and other 70's artists, I hear The Grateful Dead, a bit of Doors, and just so much else. I now own Learn and Burn and Five Easy Pieces. I need to get their other albums.
