Hey FP I got my first try at filming and "producing" a live music video tonight, and I really just wanna hear your thoughts and maybe if you have some ideas. The opening text, does it look ok or is it too cliché? Just let me know what you think. Also; (disclaimer, lol), I know the sound doesn't sync up 100% with the video. Unfortunately, the soundtrack recordings from tonights gig was corrupted, so I couldn't use those. I used the studio version instead, and that's why they don't match up super well, and the sound is a bit flat. Oh btw., it's my good friends band. They're called Averah, but they currently don't have a myspace as they're working on a new one.
Metal isn't really my scene, but this wasn't bad at all, man! The vocals were fine, the guitar work sounded great (to my untrained ear), and the band was pretty energized throughout the song. While the audio may not sinc up perfectly, I've got no complaints about the quality of the video itself!
Ok I got about two advices. First, you completly forgot about the drummer, poor dude does not even apear more than 3 seconds in the entire video. This is a huge mistake... since all the band menbers dont appear the fans would not appreciate. Second. and I bellieve this is the main problem that generated problem 1. I dont think you can call this a "production". You just took a camera to the front row and filmed away. Next time, ask the band permition to get up to de stage and film from various points of view. if you do it like your video, it gets old really, really fast, and it gives a bad idea/image about the band. Music is good, although you better use the live performance for these things. you just need to work on your film making skills and maybe doing this in a close set would help. Ok and one question. You filmed it tonight and already posted it here? take it easy and dont get too excited on posting this around here. Get back to the workingbench and continue :P Good luck man
Wow thayt was awesome topic10. Best critisizm ive ever had on facepunch. [editline]11th December 2010[/editline] I wrote that on my phone sorry for the typos. I found out that the guitarist dug up a pretty poor recording from the actual show, and I'm currently rendering the video with the actual sound from the gig. I'll post it up when rendered and uploaded.
Aaand it's uploaded [editline]11th December 2010[/editline] automerge wat
