I have to say I like the Japanese voices a bit more since they sounded more smooth and not as forced. Still the game looks amazing and now I actually understand whats going on.

Is it too late to jump into the MG story, or can you pick up this game and understand everything, looks pretty bad ass but I haven't played any earlier.

Besides Raiden, the game, being a spin-off, doesn't seem to be connected to anything from the previous installments, besides some references and his backstory.
You should still play through the series at some point though. Great games.
And I thought Snake was a drama queen.

If you have a PS3 you can get MGS1 and 4 and for all consoles you can get the HD collection that has 2,3 and peacewalker. They are all great games.
