"Based on the strength of pre-orders, Left 4 Dead 2 will be the fastest-selling product in Valve's history," said Gabe Newell, president of Valve. "Left 4 Dead 2 has consistently run at 300% of Left 4 Dead's numbers."

The boycotters sure did a good job getting people not to buy it.
I could use $25.

Million that is

Chances are only 3 of them haven't pre-ordered, and they all just forgot it existed.
Maybe soon there'll be a News Node thread : 'Valve announces new DLC for L4D'...
Or not.
25 million dollars? What the hell?
I remember a 10 million one for L4D, but 25m? That's... certainly much.

They are expanding the campaign to other forms of media and different countries.
$25,000,000 is nothing for Valve.
When they sell 500,000 copies of L4D on Steam, that's when they break even and start earning profit.
Put that money in HL2:EP3 developement
The pre-orders have already tripled L4D1's and they haven't even launched their ad campaign yet? Wow.
Who wants to bet the boycotters only helped drum up publicity for the game? :v:

Not really, you need to put development costs in the equation as well.

Fine. Add another 200,000 copies on Steam to cover a $10 million development cost (and I doubt it cost $10 mill to make L4D2)
$25,000,000 is nothing for Valve.
Why nothing, it can give Gabe a supply of BigMacs, that he can live off for 2 days

By this you mean he will get tired of such things after 2 days and go back to his usual, excellent diet?

his usual diet full of twinkies

It's obvious now that it was actually an inside marketing ploy done by the geniuses at Valve
his usual diet full of twinkies
Oreos. Lots and los of Oreos
I don't really think Valve is going to see any returns on this investment, once you start spending that kind of cash on advertising, you're reaching out to a lot of people who probably don't care.
Where's the fucking Edit button

I don't have one either... Brilliant.

You can ghetto edit like this.
I won't buy it anyway.
If it isn't drastically different from first one.
Which it seemingly isn't.
Chances are only 3 of them haven't pre-ordered, and they all just forgot it existed.
I must have been one of them, I never pre order anything anymore because I pre ordered Halo 3 Limited Edition and that was a fucking waste.
If anyone spots an L4D campaign in Sweden, let me know. I remember seeing a 10 second-ish HL2 ad back in the day, that's as far as I've experienced Valve's advertising campaigns :regd09:
500,000 Preorders of left 4 dead = 22,500,000
I think they'll live.

Your avatar matches your expression while you were typing that.
Valve is BIG
isn't really necessary
Sort of funny, since L4D is one of their worse games.
